Microsoft bringing Halo to mobiles? News

iPhone Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

14 April, 2009

Microsoft may be expanding the Halo series to mobile phones, if a recent job posting is to be believed.

"Do you love Halo? Do online social communities and console video games excite you? Do you love building scalable online infrastructure & websites for large and passionate audiences?" begins the alluring proposal.

"The Halo franchise studio is looking for a strong software development engineer with a passion for videogames and online services. We have an ambitious task ahead, taking the current Halo community and online gaming support system and bringing it to the next level.

"We're looking to blend console, web, and mobile to create an immersive Halo world that follows the dedicated Halo fan wherever they go," adds the post.

And that "immersive Halo world" will also be a "great out-of-game interactive experience" that provides the "next step" beyond the confines of a console.

The rest of the advert explains that working with the Xbox Live team and testing Live components will be key to the project. Perhaps this will be a portable wardrobe for Master Chief.

"Do you post in every Halo thread, even if you don't like the series at all ?"
Yes, I feel this need to be verbose about it.

I don’t suggest you say ‘lol’ in any interview, even for McDonalds, as it’d make you look like a gibbering idiot not qualified to wipe your own arse

So what is this? A Symbian app to let you talk about Halo with other similarly afflicted halfwits? An abominable and unplayable platform game advertised on the back of "Stupid Fucking Tart" magazine? Yet another massive bending of the rules on Live for Halo?

What is all this nonsense of MS bending the rules for Halo? Who ever said MS have to follow any rules on Live? Its THEIR frickin service for fecks sake, only other companies putting content on Live have to follow certain guidelines set by MS for pretty obvious reasons. If I came to your house and you told me to take my shoes off before coming in but then you didnt, I wouldnt then scream "But your bending the rules!!"

Btw, why is this posted under Iphone? I reckon that it will be the last platform to ever see a halo game tbf. This probably has more to do with the WM6.5/7 updates.

Ahahahahahaa, the funniest bit is that you actually expected accuracy from an assuming, anonymous racist generalisation.

"Halol is the most overated game ever!"

No, that would be Borezone 2. Or should that be CoDzone 2? I forget the name, it's so generic, derivative and downright fucking dull that thoughts regarding it tend to slide off the brain without leaving an imprint.

Nice point.

I can't glance over any piece of Halo 3 discussion without hearing about how much it sucks. Seems to be a much bigger bandwagon against it by the looks of it.

Children, stop it or you'll go sit in the naughty corner.

Can't help but feel that it's just expanding Bungienet to work cross-platform, allowing for users to queue downloads and look at game stats from phones.

It's quite clearly a mobile phone optimised website for Halo stat-tracking.

I really need to keep track of how many people I've "stuck" when I'm out and about! I will be buying an iPhone just for this app!
