MGS4 European date same as US

12th June, says Konami everywhere.

Konami has announced that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be released in Europe on 12th June as well as in the US.

That also means that Metal Gear Online: Starter Pack will come out at the same time.

Word comes courtesy of a German announcement, which specifies the date and adds that there will be - and we're translating here - a "free accessible beta" for MGO.

Konami UK has confirmed the date, clarifying that "Full details of the public beta program will be announced shortly".

In the meantime, get excited with our MGS4 and Online first impressions.

    According to EG it's only US Razorus, for now. I'm waiting for that as well (if it has DS3 bundled like the US)

    You can't deny that the PS3 is having a lot of good releases in a traditionally slow half of the year. Most of this stuff would be reserved until Xmas period on the 360. Gears2 isn't out until november but PS3 is getting many big hitters over the next couple of months, this is the turning the point my friends, when games start to count again for Playstation.


    Obv GTAIV is the biggest release cross platform but exclusive vs exclusive this first half of year is definitely going to the PS3.

    I disagree mate personally I can't see much coming out worth shouting about that I can't get on 360. For me though MGS, Time Crisis 4 and the fact I don't want to wait a couple of years for a decently priced and finished spec BR player have sealed it for me (although like I said no way until DS3 comes packaged).

    Mmmmm... Wipeout HD, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Metal Gear Solid 4, Home, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, GTA IV, SoulCalibur IV with Darth Vader... it's certainly looking like the PS3 will have a much better year than it did last.

    Until Sony meet my 3 prereqs for buying a PS3:

    1. Larger HDD - something like 120GB.
    2. DualShock3 included as standard.
    3. Backwards compatibility to help me de clutter my front room.

    I'm not going to bother otherwise. Besides, MGS 1, 2 and 3 have kept me busy all this time and I've just got Subsistence for a nice cheap price, so I'm going to enjoy all the extras for a long time to come.

    Goodbye, Sony. You were good the first and second time but I'm not sure about your third attempt...

    I hope it still has the little gun shot sound when you press start at the first splash screen, that is my favourite part.

    All we need now is SCEE announcing a re-supply of the 60GB version PS3 for PAL territories and Konami releasing the MGS Essential Collection over here. Then I'd be sold on a PS3, but not without those two conditions.

    Damn it,this and GTA 4 are tempting me to buy a PS3 even though i only have a small tv right now.Also,i´m a student living 2000km from home so i´m always short on money.
    Anyone knows how much can i get for a kidney in the black market?

    I'm hurt how can you say Time Crisis is s***t, it's class! I still play 2 now thanks to the LCD topgun. Well recommended for people who like gun games but have LCD/plasma TVs.

    Just look at the gameplay videos, it looks like it travelled in time from the 80s. It's ugly and appears to play like a turtle on grease.

    LOL! I dunno mate I think it looks cool but I am TC bias though! I just LOVE any gun game and 360 has none (come MS it can be done you know!). Add MGS and it's more reason to get into bed with Sony now. My god what am I saying!!!!!!!!

    It's weird, I wasn't that bothered about MGS before but now it's actually getting close (about time!) I'm a little excited. Still love Snake I suppose....SNNAAAKKKEEE!!!!!!

    Excellent job, Konami; I'm not going to point fingers specifically here, because there's certainly more than one company who could learn a lesson from this, but if they can get a simultaneous release for something as dialogue-heavy as MGS, why can't everyone else?

    Read on Kotaku.com that apparently the US/EU versions won't have the original Japanese soundtrack :(

    Seems they don't have enough space on the Blu-Ray disc to put them all in. Wonder if they use the double layer (50gb) disc.

    Ohhh it's so exciting, MGS 4 vs NG2, both out on the same day aren't they?
    Obviously I'm not deluded enough to think NG2 will sell any where near the same amount, but it's the only one of the two I'm remotely interested in.
    No I'm not saying MGS4 is shite, it's just not my bag. I'm sure it'll be lovely for the fans.
