MGS4 Database/Commando demo on PSN News

PlayStation 3 PSP News by Tom Bramwell

26 June, 2008

Sony has updated the PlayStation Store with the promised MGS4 Database and a demo of Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3.

Those of you who enjoy Commando 3 will be able to buy the full version from the European store next week, as revealed on Eurogamer earlier.

Both are for PS3 owners, while PSP owners can download the original Pursuit Force for GBP 14.99 from either the PC Store or via the PS3 online service.

PS3 owners also get access to the free World of Warcraft song we mentioned earlier and an extra character for PAIN, Nigel, for GBP 0.69.

Elsewhere there are Prince of Persia, PAIN, Prince Caspian and Call of Duty: World at War trailers.

A demo of a downloadable game a week before you can buy the full thing? And several weeks after it's available on XBLA...?

Pursuit Force for PSP was rock hard. They added checkpoints to the US version to counter this. I doubt they'll have added them to this downloadable version though. If they have, I might consider giving it another chance in the future.

I tried Commando 3 a few minutes ago - it was really fun, and I think I'll buy it when it comes out. I'm always on the lookout for great pick-up-and-play multiplayer titles, and this one really reminded me of an Amiga game called Warzone, by Core (which was a fantastic Ikari Warriors/Commando clone).

Yeah I could play SOTN as you mentioned - if I owned it. It's way too expensive to buy 2nd hand.

I would also like to play on big screen/sound with a decent d-pad, hence no PSP or 360 version.

The 360 version of SOTN is amazing, and you can use the left stick instead of the D pad.
