Metroid Prime 3 in October

Mentions Advance Wars DS 2.

Nintendo Europe has rolled out its Q4 release schedule, bringing us firm dates for the likes of Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Resident Evil: The Umbrealla Chronicles and Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure.

DS titles in the spotlight include Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and Donkey Kong Jungle Climber.

The Wii line-up begins with the already confirmed 14th September Super Paper Mario date, before jumping to Harvest Moon: Magical Melody on 19th October, Metroid Prime 3 on the 26th, and Super Mario Galaxy a little earlier than expected on 16th November.

Following those are Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles on 30th November, Pokémon Battle Revolution and Zack & Wiki on 7th December, and Wii Chess later in the winter.

Battalion Wars 2, Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl are all listed as 2008.

DS picks start with Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland on 14th September, then move onto newcomers Naruto Ninja Council on 5th October and Donkey Kong Jungle Climber on the 12th - currently enjoying success in the Japanese charts.

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass will emerge on 19th October, followed by other big hitters Practice English! On the 26th, then Flash Focus and Mario Party DS on 23rd November.

DS Novel is pipped as winter, and sadly Advanced Wars 2 is lingering in 2008.

I sold my launch Wii, it just wasn't getting played and I'm sick of Nintendo releasing games so late in Europe.

Corruption will probably end up being the best game this year and I'll have to go out and get another damn Wii to play it, but it will have to be very very good to make me go back to Wii.

  • JackyB #2 5 years ago

Sniper. Nothing else take your fancy, Like Mario or nights?
  • GamesConnoisseur #3 5 years ago

Not worth selling Wii in my view as its going to be sooo common place and all the devs/publishers jumping onto the bandwagon. The lengthy release list show that finally more games is coming.

Too much chaff for wheat though, still some strong gems in there and looking forward to a handful.

Will be interesting to watch Wii performance up to and after Christmas, if it will still sell so strongly and how much of market share it will take up. Personally cannot see how many innovation can be pulled from a old hardware but this is essentially a second chance for Gamecube plus new and exciting controller.

HD Gaming is still too premature as small proportion of gamers do have HDTV, Nintendo not going to be ignored. So a three way tied race is still likely in term of advantages. PS3 for Blu Ray, X360 for greater dev support (ease of programming) and Wii for taking greatest market share but poor hardware.

Mario Galaxy and Nights are going to be absolutely brilliant. I hope. So glad they've dates set in stone now
  • Sebo #7 5 years ago

    @gamesconnoisseur

Wii has "poor" hardware does it? Least it doesnt break down continually or cost a mortgage payment to get out the shop.

Graphically it is behind. I'm sure that's what you actually mean.
  • Arcadiian #8 5 years ago

If SEGA break NiGHTS i'll consider handing in my "SEGA zealot" badge.
  • Horse #9 5 years ago

Sweet lord, that's a lot of games. Okay, sturgeon's law (90% of everything is shit) applies, but that 10% is bigger than I remember Ninty having for a very long time.

Re the next-gen stuff, I think having controllers with components manufactured to within a tolerance of a few atoms (the motion-sensing kit) to be pretty next-gen!
  • Pooley #10 5 years ago

    Brunswick Bowling Pro, oh yes!

    Cheggers Party Quiz???? WTF????

Yes I should have specified that it was processing power I was referring to, acknowledged HD era hasn't really kicked off but Wii can not even compete on GFX front. Sure it can do SD quite good and some game will be pushing it already and cannot imagine second generation onwards of Wii titles getting close to other consoles. Meaning it will be largely stuck in pre 2006 gfx era.
Processing power is also important for when you want Dead Rising type of game and for heavy use of particles and effects.

Having said that Wii certainly can do some great games and exclusives that other would drool to play and which is why I m keeping Wii and not sold on like sucidial SniperWolf!

    Metroid Prime 3,
    Super Mario Galaxy,
    Halo 3,
    PGR4,
    Assasin's Creed,
    Virtua Fighter 5,

    Zelda: Phantom Hourglass ,
    Sonic Rush Adventure plus
    Pokémon Battle Revolution (any good?),
    Zack & Wiki (looks promising),
    Dewy's Adventure (this too),
Crash Of The Titans (unless it's pants),
    NiGHTS (probably),
Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 (it's about time Ubisoft dropped the price of the original)...

    Shame.
  • Sebo #18 5 years ago

I honestly think I've a longer list of games I really, really want to play in the next six months than in any other half-year period ever.

    Bioshock
    Halo 3
    Mass Effect
    Pro Evo 2008
    Mario Galaxy
    Nights
    Metroid Prime 3
    Metal Gear 4
    Assassins Creed

    Good times

  • JohnnyWashnGo #19 5 years ago

    @JonFE

Great list there mate - I agree with every one of them.
I think I may need to pimp my ass to afford to buy all the games I want this christmas.

Maybe that David Reeves guy was right after all, maybe there should be a nice long gap between AAA releases so that you get time to enjoy them properly and also time to save for the next one. What am I saying, bring on the games !!!
  • wizbob #20 5 years ago

    >'Yes I should have specified that it was processing power I was referring to, acknowledged HD era hasn't really kicked off but Wii can not even compete on GFX front.'

= Blah, blah, meaningless marketing expressions like 'HD Era'

    >Sure it can do SD quite good and some game will be pushing it already and cannot imagine second generation onwards of Wii titles getting close to other consoles. Meaning it will be largely stuck in pre 2006 gfx era.

= I think pixel resolution is a way of measuring 3d performance

Processing power is also important for when you want Dead Rising type of game and for heavy use of particles and effects.

= I like really shiny things

Having said that Wii certainly can do some great games and exclusives that other would drool to play and which is why I m keeping Wii and not sold on like sucidial SniperWolf!

    = Even I don't believe everything I just said
  • Daymare #21 5 years ago

Wow, what a list! All these people should get together and instead of making 100 average games + few highlights make 30 masterpieces. Just a fantasy, don't mind me.

Gutted Super Smash Bros ain't released until 2008. Currently in the USA until next tuesday and if Wii's are back in stock may get one with Metroid (which is released here monday) to bring back with me and then start getting my games imported.
  • famous_roy #25 5 years ago

That is a freaking amazing line up, was looking forward to MP3 and SMG but some of the others look awesome also (Zak and Wiki especially). Phantom hourglass on the DS also, good time to be a nintendo fan, better rinse Bioshock before october!

    Gutted SniperWolf. Patience ftw.
  • Carrybagma #26 5 years ago

    Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland.

I can barely believe that a single person would have this on their wanted list, yet there's actually eight of them. Eight nutters. How can anyone want to buy something with that title, let alone admit to it?
    :o|
  • Ryze #27 5 years ago

    @ JonFE

Reeves' strategy is only good for the companies themselves.

For us it's better that they come out all at once, rather than being delayed.

Reason being, that you can buy the AAA ones that you want the most first (+ the online playable ones, so others don't gain the advantage), and wait as long as you want to buy the quirkier ones.

    Just keep a wish list.

For example, I only got God Of War, Shadow Of The Colossus, Bully, Fahrenheit etc. at the end of last year. they cost me less than £15 each, and they've kept me from buying a £300 RRod prone 360.

Now I'll hold on for as long as I can and get an HDMI 120Gb version, hopefully with the new chipset.

The lack of a GTA IV will help me wait, as I'm not a console FPS fan. I'll wait for the new 360, upgrade my PC and grab Bioshock, Crysis and Unreal Tourney 3, I reckon.

Depends how good Assassin's Creed turns out.
  • Ryze #28 5 years ago

Oh, yeah. The Wii lineup is looking too good to resist now.

Nights and Manhunt 2 will prob be my first games come Oct.

Yes, patience helps in gaming. Just keep a nice back catalogue, and don't rush to buy absolutely everything, unless you'll be too busy with life during the droughts to moan.

Did you sell your dvd player when you found out movies got released later in europe too?
  • zendragon #31 5 years ago

  • Kazzahdrane #32 5 years ago

For me the really big news was that Nintendo will be publishing Zack & Wiki in Europe - means it should get some decent promotion ala Trauma Center!

So many Wii titles in the last quarter, a bit silly really!
  • thekidmanproject #33 5 years ago

"Cheggers' Party Quiz" - good lord.
  • smelly #34 5 years ago

    >So many Wii titles in the last quarter, a bit silly really!

    Not really.

Makes perfect business sense to wait until you have a big userbase on a console before releasing games on it.

Also games dont sell well in the summer (apart from to the minority geeks), as everyone is out enjoying the sun

So it makes sense to hold off until the winter to sell your big games.. Especially with chrimble coming up making said games system sellers too.

If mario galaxy got released in the summer then that'd be a shit decision.
  • Razorus #35 5 years ago

As an owner of the Wii60 combo, it's going to be a very difficult Q4 as there are so many great games coming out.

    Priorities:
    Halo 3
    Mass Effect
    Assassin's Creed
    Metroid Prime 3
    Super Mario Galaxy
    Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
    Zack and Wiki

    Total@ £330 approx.

    * Super Paper Mario (Nintendo) - 14th September
    * Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Nintendo) - 26th October
    * Crash Of The Titans (Vivendi Games) - October
    * Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire (D3Publisher of Europe/Koch Media) - October
    * Endless Ocean (tentative title) (Nintendo) - 9th November
    * Need For Speed Pro Street (EA) - 1st or 2nd November
    * Super Mario Galaxy (Nintendo) - 16th November
    * Ben 10: Protector of Earth (D3Publisher of Europe/Koch Media) - November
    * NiGHTS: Journey Of Dreams (SEGA) - November
    * Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 (Ubisoft) - November
    * Nitro Bike (Ubisoft) - November
    * Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure (Capcom/Nintendo) - 7th December
    * Dewy's Adventure (Konami) - Autumn
    * Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis (Rockstar Games) - Autumn
    * Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (SEGA) - Winter

    * Battalion Wars 2 (tentative title) (Nintendo) - 2008
    * Wii Fit (tentative title) (Nintendo) - 2008
    * Mario Kart Wii (tentative title) (Nintendo) - 2008
    * Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Nintendo) - 2008

These are all the games I would *consider* buying. Many of them (Need For Speed, Dragon Blade, Crash, Dewy's Adventure, Ben 10, NiGHTs, Mario and Sonic at the Olympics) could end up being rubbish, but even so, there are quite a few great games for Wii this year, and early next year with Mario Kart, Smash and BWii will be great.

Also, MoH: Heroes 2 apparently has even better FPS controls than MP3, so that's probably a buy (not including 32-player online multiplayer) and Geometry Wars Galaxies could be a buy, depending on price (full priced I don't think I'd go for it).
