Meteos Wars coming to XBLA this week News

Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

8 December, 2008

Q Entertainment will finally release Meteos Wars on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday, after the puzzler missed its original October launch window.

Meteos Wars continues what the DS title started so admirably back in 2005.

The idea is to create vertical or horizontal lines of three or more matching alien symbols, which fall from the top of the screen. Once completed, these lines turn into rockets and shoot toward the top of the screen, taking all above symbols with them. Complete more lines while this is going on and the rocket speeds up. But fail, like I did with my original description, and they'll run out of steam and sink back down.

Meteos Wars, as we told you before, costs 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60) and can be played either on your own, or with a friend - online or on the same console.

You can expect our thoughts soon.

I'm a bit confused, what is the difference exactly? In the original you also propel the Meteos in "rocket-like" fashion...

So the twist is in the fact that the control scheme will be bobbins without a stylus?

Cos the gameplay mechanics are the same...

Erm... that was the main mechanic of the original DS game, which I really liked.

Don't see how this is going to work without the stylus control though.

Yeah I'm wondering how this'll work without stylus as well.

Move left/right with left control stick, drag block up and down holding 'A' whilst moving thumbstick up and down*.

Get annoyed because it's not easy without a sty... pen thingy that's been mentioned way too much in the above posts. :)

Lumines felt dissapointing on the 360 compared to the PSP, hope Meteos feels fresher than just being a remake.

* - Speculation only, may not actually be control scheme.

More research required!

Regardless, love Meteos and if the control scheme is good, then I will probably get it!

Wow, the differences sound immense! I was a big fan of the original, but from the sounds of this preview they've fixed all the problems with the original game mechanics. I'm totally looking forward to playing this on a real controller too, rather than the rubbish and inaccurate stylus!

Dammit my intent was to start(as in sarcastically) a stylus based train of comments but i missed it myself.. ah well.

Oh and it's got to have 4 player mode right? Even the DS had that! Right?

So, based on the updated article, there really is no difference in the game mechanics?

Of course not, otherwise it wouldn't be Meteos would it?

Games can change their game mechanic and still be part of a series...
