even though i planned on getting this on the PsP i ended up missing it, so to hear of a PS2 version is very good. That mean's i can sell 3 and get the entire series, yay!

I played the original so much back in the day. It has also has been in heavy MAME use (along with the sequels), cool to finally get it on the sofa, so to speak.

Where is the Metal Slug Anthology Wii review?

If you like Metal Slug, then buy it. All the games work like they should, the presentation is a bit shoddy but you I don't really care about it anyway. All I want is the games and they are great. The bonuses add a little and are not too hard to achieve but they, too, are not very well presented. You can unlock art galleries (I never cared for them in any game) and also a soundtest and an interview. The interview is text-only, no video, no audio - feels a bit heartless too. It's not even all that interesting.

But for me it's all about the games. And co-op. The game is absolutely good value for the money and the only thing that pulls it down is the shoddy presentation.

As far as the controls go: I have no problem at all with the standard control scheme. You have to shake the wiimote (hold sideways, NES style) to throw grenades but it doesn't feel tacked on. It's sensitive enough so you don't need to shake it like mad and it doesn't activate by mistake yet it's fast enough to throw about 10 grenades in one jump if you are near an enemy. It's probably even faster than using a button, at least while jumping and shooting all at once. The cube controller works too but only the analogue stick, not the dpad. At first I had my hopes up because the dpad actually works in the menus but not in the games. And there is auto-fire.
