Metal Gear Online gets hefty update News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

26 November, 2008

Konami has altered a number of things in Metal Gear Online to coincide with the arrival of the MEME Expansion.

We knew a few of these tweaks were on the way, such as a No Headshot rule, Stealth deathmatches, and an Interval mode where people can chat and practice and not lose statistical pride.

But it's nice to see a full list of changes and know the update has been applied (thanks, PS3 Fanboy).

The MEME Expansion adds playable characters Liquid Ocelot - with his fancy targeting manipulation skills - and Mei Ling - who can transfix enemies - to the roster.

There are three new maps, too: the industrial Silo Sunset, the leafy Forest Firefight, and the snowy Winter Warehouse.

The MEME Expansion costs EUR 7.99, and can be bought as a bundle with the GENE Expansion for EUR 12.99.

The pack should be available now, although we couldn't find it on the PS3 Store. Perhaps this can only be gotten through Metal Gear Online.

Or we might be drunk.

I hate Konamis' system. It's a shame I'll never get these expansions because of their refusal to use the Store like normal people.

I might fire up MGO, Not played it for so long. You're not getting any cash tho Konami. My advice to the fools is release a new improved version of MGO, charge a reasonable price for the download and FFS use PSN.

What's with the royal "we" abuse lately?
Or is it some new (old) trend of de-personalization. I thought teh NeW jOurnaLism was all about the opposite. :P

QFT

While I hate the core, regular games because they transended into spammy headshot warzone shit fuck games, I actually loved the stealth gameplay and stealth games.

But because of the post above I stopped playing altogether. The stupid ass update system takes forever and is a joke, and then the konami "jump through a million hoops" store stuff is something I can't be arsed with.

Played the beta to death, barely touched the full game because of updates all the time.

I really don't find the updates a problem, usually takes around 5 minutes,
once you've registered at Konami's site which you only have to do once, downloading content from there is no different from downloading from anywhere else really.
Not that i'm excusing their intial screw up's or decisions, before or in the the future.
But those that really want to play MGO just roll with the punches!

Creating the Konami ID itself was already too much of a mess for me.
