As a 360 fanboy, this is the only game that I've seen that makes me want a Ps3.(well not counting the new Ico project)
I really hope its not shit.

You can really tell Alex is passionate about games, and in particular this one. I like the copyright system as something new. It all sounds fantastic of course.

No, I think it looks pointless too. But I also think The Sims is pointless so I am obviously missing something here.

Some people just want to kill things *shrug*

Others are happy to create their own weird little world out of paperclips and wood, and jump on it until it falls over.

Its all about personal preference.

I think FPS's on consoles are pointless.
I don't like flying sims.
I think Barbie games are pointless.
Does that make them any less worthwhile? No. Why? People DO like them.

On a more related note, he is REALLY passionate. I like that. Most interviews the enthusiasm 'sounds' forced.

Good interview. More brits should front games companies, it's good to hear some proper English phrases working their way into interviews. And swearing.

Looking forward to this game even more now and a lot of my qualms over how the user content will work have been allayed. Sounds like a last.fm sort of thing.

Personally, I'm waiting in anticipation although the excitement has worn off thanks to oversaturated coverage. We're getting new info once in a while but we're seeing the same thing over and over again at every possible game show. What we needed was the careful drip-feed marketing of Spore. Bits of info, some tantalising commentary by Will Wright and a prelude to one of the most ambitious games yet. If LBP is to be the Spore of consoles, then we need more subtlety and less exposure.

And let this NOT be misconstrued as LBP hating. I am looking forward to the game quite a bit and can't wait to design some levels I've drawn out on paper. Thing is, I want a little less conversation. And obviously, a little more action. Thank you, Elvis.

Beta? Demo? C'mon let's have some generosity.

Im planning on making interactive gameshow levels ie four players and you have to answer the question, pick an answer and something may happen to the people who get it wrong ..hidden trapdoor :-),people who get the answers right get a collectable item

Ive also got a million other ideas in my head not all traditional platform levels it seems the potential of this is almost limitless

I like to keep meself as ecletic as possible - couldnīt get into RTSīs or the Sims shit - let see what this turns out to be. Iīm not a very creative guy - nor I get kicks out of plasticine -, so it doesnīt make me very enthusiastic, as it seems it is tailored for that kinda ppl.

I know that team really well - actually, it was interesting, there was a presentation done within Home, back at GDC I think, and they built a LittleBigPlanet space. Sony built that for us.

actually Sony outsourced it.

Can't wait to start creating my own levels with this! I've loved the trailers so far, and the music in them. I hope they use the same music in the game. This could be the next big thing. I hope it will be.

Yeah I wasn't saying the game looks crap, I just don't understand how people get excited about games which are purely sandbox, containing no fleshed out story or real objectives. Meh, I guess I'm not the creative kind

LBP is not purely sandbox. If you don't want to design levels yourself, just play the 50 levels on the disk or download the thousands of user created levels.

And yes... I VERY exited by LBP. It's very innovative and something different not seen before. If MM nails this, it will be huge.

Surprised to see people meh'ing the concept - I quess that some people just want more FPS, more racers and recycled game concepts.

Technically games like The Sims and possibly LBP can actually be considered as software toys. The point you are missing is that you are responsible to making it a game by making up your own objective ! Thankfully the disk will ship with lots of built in stuff so we should all be fine. Plus there surely will be thousands of user created stuff to download.

It seems to me that is some sort of contemporary Lemmings... am I wrong?

Anyway I don't go much into that "segregate ppl by genres of games", a good game is a good game, regardless of beeing an FPS or a text adventure.

@disc

There's got to be some puzzle elements to the game or else those 50 levels will seem pretty short lived.
Have they ever showed one complete level?
I wonder how long one level will take to finish.

It basicly a platformer (I'm tempted to call it a "playformer") at it's core... but designers can make puzzle and other elements in their levels and I sure we will se many user designed levels which are not straight platforming. So just calling LPD a platformer is not quite accurate :)

@ Beano

"Surprised to see people meh'ing the concept - I quess that some people just want more FPS, more racers and recycled game concepts."

I don't know if I see too many "meh's" regarding the actual concept, but more for the overall package. At its core, the game is a platformer "plus," which many of today's gamers aren't really too thrilled about. If this had been released in the N64 days it would've been the greatest thing ever and I don't think anyone would have denied it. But by today's standards, and with today's tastes, platformers seem to grow old quickly.

It's great that you can build and do whatever you please, but how long before "running up this" or "jumping over that" gets old? I don't know...just making an observation.

TBH, I'm already a little tired of seeing the game and I haven't even gotten my hands on it yet. After all the hype and at this point, I don't even know if I need to.

You've seen it for a year and a half, it has been exposed to the public a lot, I agree, but a year and a half before release is NOT a huge amount of time for any game.

Nope...announcing a game a year and a half early isn't too, too far in advance. But the game's been in our faces every day since. I feel like I've played and beaten it already.

It's a shame, too, because this game could have carved out a nice niche for itself. But by now it has the weight of the world riding on it and I have a feeling a lot of people who buy it because of the hype are going to be disappointed.

There are so many games being released on so many platforms you cannot blame companies trying to get some print space.

@ronuds you know you can just ignore videos or advertising of a game? I know this game is being released, Ive seen a couple of videos but I cant say I'm any more swamped by the advertising of this game than any other.

Im not that bothered by this game, but i can see the potential for it

One concern I have is that I think my kids would like this game, but what about the user created content, what is stopping a bunch of muppets creating levels with swearing etc in? How is that aspect monitored?

Beano finally got on my tits and aqcuired the power of instant ignoredness.

LBP looks great.
It also looks like a game I will play (around with) for an evening, and then never touch it again. Needless o say, the fault is with me, as it is with Sims to mention another example of great games I have zero interest in.

And no, its not about the lack of guns if such a stupid thought would cross anyones mind.
Im tired of people who thinks of "need to kill stuff!" and "to not really have a creative mind" as one and the same thing.

Not sure about the game, have no idea until I get to try it but i'm not really too keen about the character design, looks very generic and without any edge at all... With all the stuff on Sony platforms that has had truely exceptional cd, I wonder why they decided to go this way... I'm thinking of Parappa, Loco, Patapon, Vib Ribbon just to mention a few...

You go to a top restaurant in high anticipation of a wonderful meal. You then have to wait 3 tedious hours by which time you hate the bloody place. The food arrives but although it is good it will never make up for the wait.

Well Jedi, don't get over excited and calm down... it's no way near anything like Katamari Damacy in terms of styling (it doesn't have that wonderful Pitagora Switch feel to it) and it isn't the most interesting or innovative of visual styles either, just some generic cute character design that honestly does not stand out from the crowd. I may not know much about games (even If I started playing almost 30 years ago) but I think I know when I can pick out some average illustration / 3D / design and this hasn't exactly got the impact of TDR's Wipeout and isn't designed by Rinzen or Furi Furi either...

dont you think its about time this whole its too expensive crap wore off. 1st round buyers of the xbox 360 paid through the roof for that but they didnt bitch about it. my brother spent just shy of 400 quid on is 360, 6 months later i bought my 60gb ps3 for a dam sight less then that.

back on point. LBP is shaping up nicely and will be looking forward to creating on it. enjoyed building levels on the unreal 2 editor. So it will be good to see how user friendly they made it.

I think I'm going to buy a PS3 sooner or later, just waiting for some games that I'm interested in to be released. I'm tempted by MGSIV but I hardly ever buy a console for one game and having a 360, I would like some original or exclusive IP, to make the definitive move... having said that, I think we're not in the 1st round anymore, so they should bring the price down at least to 299 euros.
