Medal of Honor trailer "100% in-game"

Developer answers questions about reboot.

Electronic Arts has said that the recently released Medal of Honor trailer is "100 per cent in-game footage".

Speaking on the official website, executive producer Greg Goodrich also confirmed that the rebooted first-person shooter series has vehicle gameplay.

The new Medal of Honor takes place in Afghanistan and focuses on a group of "Tier 1 Operators". Goodrich explained that Tier 1 is a designation given to only a few units in the US special forces structure. Basically it means they're pretty wicked.

He also said that the man with the beard on the box artwork "is indeed a character" and will be revealed "along with his highly skilled and very specialised Tier 1 unit" in due course.

Goodrich also addressed the apparent tonal similarities between the new Medal of Honor and Activision's rival Modern Warfare series. He confirmed the game will be the first M-rated instalment in the previously World War II-based series. "However," he added, "we will always be grounded by our core tenets of authenticity and respect for the soldier."

Elsewhere, the executive producer said the team took the PC version of the game "as seriously as we do any other version", and said you'd be able to kick in doors. Woo.

Medal of Honor is due out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in autumn 2010.

Who thought it wasn't 100% in-game?, it had good graphics, but not so good you would think it was CGI.
  • Haloboy #2 2 years ago

100% in game nafness. I thought it looked pretty terrible personally. Has EA ran out of money then?
  • lunnyt00n #3 2 years ago

Exactly what i thought too Negotiator. How good do EA actually think this looks? Still might be a good game, i aint enjoyed a MoH game since Allied Assault so hopefully this will bring something new to the table over what the CoD franchise brings.

    @Haloboy!
If you think that looks terrible, you must think MW2 looks downright disastrous?

(Nothing personal against MW2 from me by the way - aside from the slightly outdated graphics - I've clocked in well over 30 hours in multiplayer)

This should be pretty good, it'll be nothing genre defining mind but still should be a good romp.

It's a pretty sad state of affairs when publisher PR guys not feel the need to state that the PC version is "being taken as seriously as the console versions"

As for the trailer, considering that this game is still a year away I think it looks pretty good. It looks pretty much on par with current releases and there's a good 6-9 months to polish it further.
  • siro #7 2 years ago

How does this look terrible? It doesn't look bad at all, just that there's nothing in there which could make you believe it's CGI.

Not really it's just a dig at IW....who deserve it IMO.

This game looked sweet and was obvious even for the unexperienced that it wasnt a CGI. The good thing is that EA has the PC advantage. After Infinity chose to kick PC gamers in the nuts byt ignoring their needs senceless EA is already using that in their advantage and points it out. So expect the online experience, including dedicated servers there by release :) Its all good news. Dont get me wrong. MW2 was awesome even if it lacked gameplay time in the solo and dedicated servers amongst a lot of other onoline issues. I just hope that this competition teach IW a thing or two for messing with the PC gamer in that way.

Cant wait for the final product.

With new kick door feature.. which will be overused to death, and now loads of doors to enable you to use the feature..

It's out FALL 2010....so just in time to compete with COD WAW2 or something like that. I'm sorry but, they've all started to look the same to me. I saw this trailer for the first time over my friends shoulder and said "Oh DLC for modern warfare...looks ok I guess". He looked back at me and just said "It does kind of look the same doesn't it"

If this game has a decent set of multiplayer maps, without the fussy, unbalancing issues the Perk system has brought to MW and is a good old-fashioned skill-against-skill, shooting experience (hopefully without a talentless radar/map), then the multiplayer experience should be outstanding. I think it goes without saying that co-op must be included. I can't imagine anyone in this day and age believing that it makes sense to miss out a very popular and loved game mode.

For me, it has to allow console gamers to option to remap keys and adjust X and Y speeds independently – after all, comfort and familiarity with controls can make a massive difference with the enjoyment of a game. Finally I'd love to see this run at 60 frames a second on the consoles. Sadly I think in their desperation to differentiate this game from Modern Warfare, they'll go the route of fancy graphics over framerate. And that'll make the game as unpleasant to play as any 30 frames shooter game. Fingers crossed it all works out. I've already joined the group who've given up on MW.

I dont care about MP, all i call about is a good story and good single player experience. As its based on a proper conflict rather than some flakey hollywood "Russians invade the usa silly story", hopefully it might mean i connect with and enjoy the game more than MW2. But i do worry that it might be too close to MW2 and thats something the industry doesnt need is another clone of MW2. So fingers crossed.

    @Penhalion.
agreed.its all looking the same.it makes u wonder why anybody ever release's a game at the same time as a COD title.
Publishers used to try to release before xmas. They sould aim for release before 1st week in ANY November.
  • sneetch #15 2 years ago

Does it look similar to MW2? Yes, they're both going for "realistic" so it looks similar.

This looks about as similar to MW2 as "Three Kings" and "The Hurt Locker" do to one another, what's important will (obviously) be how it plays.

I'm looking forwards to kicking in doors and booting exploding people about the place. ;)

Why bother with Multiplayer in this if you're also making Battlefield 3? Especially if it's being made by DICE? While I enjoy a good singleplayer game, I can't help but think it's a bit daft to spend too much time on the multiplayer for this when the superior, dedicated multiplayer Battlefield game is on the way too.
  • martlev #17 2 years ago

MoH should stay true to its roots. WW2 with a little bit of supernaturalness added. I fondly remember the first 2 games on the ps1, im pretty sure they were some of it not the first FPS' to have a vehicle section (shooting from the sidecar rocked).
  • Froggit #18 2 years ago

    Did they have supernaturality?
Or is martlev assuming so because he was crap at them?
I don't know, only spent about an hour playing the (split screen(!)) multiplayer...

@ Murton "It's a pretty sad state of affairs when publisher PR guys not feel the need to state that the PC version is being taken as seriously as the console versions"

Generally people being interviewed are giving answers in response to questions put to them by the journalist...

From now on every time a dev get interviewed they'll get the same old questions about the PC version and the journalist will be hoping to have a big story on his hands, pathetic really.

If you think otherwise the you're pretty knaive about how the media industry works my friend.

I'm fackin' stoked - looks awesome!
Who gives a damn if if the setting is a modern conflict - that's a bouns to me.
IW split from the Original MOH development team anyway - ain't payback a bitch!
I don't support IW anymoree 'cos they're pc sell outs.
Hope EA delivers something of CRYSIS like proportions! WOOT!
