Medal of Honor 360 beta delayed

PC and PS3 versions unaffected.

EA and DICE have said that the Xbox 360 version of the Medal of Honor multiplayer beta won't start until next week.

The PC and PS3 versions begin on 21st June, although people who own Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and have pre-ordered MOH can start playing today.

Xbox 360, however, faces a delay - the length of which hasn't been discussed.

"We are extremely disappointed about this, but want to assure you that we are dedicated and determined to delivering all of you this awesome multiplayer experience as soon as possible," the companies wrote on the game's official site.

On the plus side, they've said that the beta will be extended to make up for the lost time.

The multiplayer aspect of Medal of Honor is being developed by DICE, while the single-player has been put together by EA Los Angeles. You can read more about that in our Medal of Honor single-player preview.

Earlier this week Sony and EA announced that the PS3 version of the game would include an HD remastering of Medal of Honor: Frontline, which came out on PS2 millions of years ago.

    Any one else getting the feeling that there's an impeding Microsoft/Activision VS Sony/EA double team battle on it's way?

    @ Moz: It could certainly be a possibility, and not a very nice one, for us as consumers nor them as companies.

    If it does happen though, I reckon the PS3 will win that exchange. All of Activisions key franchises have counterpart within EA, and those EA counterparts are invariably superior (in my opinion)

    According to Amazon the beta starts on the 5th of July over here, is this news only applicable to the US beta?

    I don't think it would be in EA's best interest to be doing all this on purpose. They're a multi platform publisher / developer and staying a multi platform publisher / developer is the best way to reach out to all your fans and make the most money.

    I'll just play this when it's released! :)

    it must be taking a bit longer to add the 360 exclusive stuff like HD resolution and anti aliasing.

    I kid, I kid :-)

    getting a beta key requires a bit leg work .. seeing as there is a lot of confusion over the handing out of Beta keys

    @Moz.

    If MS do ally themselves with those dicks known as Activision they can gtfo, I'll be buying PS3 versions of games.

    I see your point since EA is a much better company than Activision and Sony should hook up with them and their stellar track record. We all know that EA has never did anything close to what Activision has done and are the darlings of the industry.

    Who would have thought a rival company would have become so hated that EA are now the shining knights of the games industry.

    Oh well, wasn't expecting it to come out so early after E3 anyway.

    Actually despite the strong attempt to maintain the idea that EA are dicks, no, they are not as bad as Activision. At least EA had the decency to try and fool us back in the day rather than blatantly showing they were assholes then laughing as everyone continued to buy their games anyway.

    At least EA tried to create some new IP, the fact that gamers say one thing (We want new game ideas) then do another (don't buy said new game ideas, or ridicule them for pathetic reasons) is not EA's problem. What have activision done except overcharge and openly say they are going to churn out nothing but the same old shit year after year?

    I know it's become some sort of cool counterpoint to hate on EA once everyone started having a go at Acti, but no, right now - they are nowhere near as bad and don't take the piss nearly as much. The only two things I can see that EA have "done wrong" recently are project $10 and the online pass - both of which can be argued to be perfectly valid. Why exactly should people who pay no money directly to EA have the use of online or be given extra content? If you can give me an answer to that which doesn't involve a long version of "because" or comparisons to used cars with no engines, I'd love to hear it.

    EA aren't perfect but then no business is. They aren't the "shining knights of the industry" but inevitably, when one big entity starts acting a certain way, people compare it to one of a similar size and look to the other one to act differently.

    It's just BFBC anyway, even the sounds have been cut/pasted over. The guns have zero recoil and i mean zero and they all seem like pea-shooters in addition this rubbish will be run on EA lagfest servers. Lovely.

    Just got a key from my mate for this, but I don't mind waiting for the beta; Ive got Bad Company 2 to keep me going
    DICE FTW!
    Also I don't get much lag at all from the EA servers, sure you get the ocasional point where it is annoying but its not major or anything. And would you rather have the terrible Modern Warfare system of hosting where it keeps chucking hosts and restarting until it eventually gets it right.
    MoH is looking like a realistic Call of Duty Modern Warfare and the multiplayer looks like a lovely infantry based cousin to DICE's amazing Battlefield series

    @SFG_CLAN

    i pretty much never get lag on the EA servers...its actually getting on the servers that is the problem for the first month,it happened with BF43 and they apologised for it,and then the same thing happened for BFBC2...very annoying
