I'll be happy to have some of that. Like that outdoor shot.

the battle system in Kotor was excellent, you cant expect everything to be the same as BG (allthough if it would, it'd be ok with me)
  • Scimarad #4 7 years ago

" the battle system in Kotor was excellent, you cant expect everything to be the same as BG"

Baldur's Gate had a battle system?
  • Xerx3s #5 7 years ago

Kotor wasnt my kind of game (nevertheless, i thought it was good), but jade empire was ace. If this game is only half as good, then it will be a 'must buy' title.
  • Blerk #6 7 years ago

Looks nice. And thank Christ it's not another identikit sci-fi shooter.
  • Razz #7 7 years ago

Wow another FPS! Who'd thought it... :/

    Looks lurvley tho.
  • ralphwolfenstein #8 7 years ago

    Oh cool. You mean FPA.
  • paralipsis #10 7 years ago

It seems to me that Bioware have worked hard to improve the eye-candy of their games, but the gameplay has slipped backwards for years now. I will no longer be sucked in by their visuals. If I do get this game it will be after it have received a ton of reviews that I trust.
  • Hunam85 #11 7 years ago

BG's battle system is both basic and complex at the same time, you can just allowe everyone to go into wailing on each other, or, if your like me, pause ever 2 seconds and tell every single person what they should be doing, play, pause, repeat untill they are smitten and we are partying! completed bg1 all the way up to the final boss on normal that way, didnt die once
  • HarryB #12 7 years ago

    looks pretty interesting
  • tiddles #13 7 years ago

    Looks very promising...

Where does it say it's a first person game?

Also - don't expect to see it for a while...
  • JediMasterMalik #14 6 years ago

hhhmmm I hope this comes to pc like KOTOR and unlike jade empire. Would be a smart move tbh. :D
  • Yazoo #15 6 years ago

Looks like a shinier version of the PC title "Chrome" (no pun intended). It looks the part, but the actual visual design seems drab and uninspired.
  • tengu #16 6 years ago

"the battle system in Kotor was excellent"

Good call, loved the battle system in KotOR, and I really hope Mass Effect has something similar.

Jade Empire had one of the worst combat systems I've used in an RPG I'd say.
  • Glitch #17 6 years ago

looks like most of the people who have played DG and Jade Empire cannot agree on which had the better battle system so I think what ever Mass Effect has will be good for 50% of you.

Looks super sexy to me tho!
  • RatBastard #18 6 years ago

This game visually truly looks crap. You guys can't be serious if you find it attractive.
  • UncleLou #19 6 years ago

Is that some kind of joke?

If there's one thing I don't worry about in this case, it's the graphics.
  • fantabulo #20 6 years ago

Ah damnit I don't want to buy a 360 with its tacky buttons and stuff it just doesn't strike me as in any way cool, but with so many amazing games on it...
  • Bertie Verified Senior Staff Writer, Eurogamer.net #21 6 years ago

I cannot wait for this game, it's just well, it's got almost everything I want - with BioWare behind it all.
  • Spanky #22 6 years ago

  • itamae #23 6 years ago

Hmm, nice. Very tasteful design and use of lighting.
  • Blerk #24 6 years ago

Just say "no" to real-time squad-based combat in your RPGs!
  • Thamuhacha #25 6 years ago

    >Just say "no" to real-time squad-based combat in your RPGs!

    What do we want?

A ban on spiky haired, large sword wielding characters engaging in randomly occurring turn based battles involving complex crystal/mana systems in order to reveal a special destiny!

    When do we want it?

    Retrospectively from 1998 onwards please

  • UncleLou #26 6 years ago

I'd rather have a proper real-time/action combat system than that fully-automated, half-arsed poor excuse for a combat system that was in Kotor. :/

Of course, what I'd really want is a proper tactical turn-based combat system, but we won't get that anyway.
  • Blerk #27 6 years ago

Of course, what I'd really want is a proper tactical turn-based combat system

There's hope for you yet, Lou. Join us, and we shall destroy Thamuhacha and his army! :-)
  • Thamuhacha #28 6 years ago

You don't stand a chance. The onslaught of my real-time western army will be too much for you.

While you wait for your turn meter to recharge and unleash some gaudy "special-link-release-breaker" I will be jerkily hitting you the whole time

And so will my stupid sidekicks

In other news: go and watch the trailer for 300 right this minute at Apple.com ... jaw droppingly spectacular IMO
  • Nikanoru #29 6 years ago

As opposed to what some jokers in here say, those city screenshots look very beautiful. The only hope I have is that they'll actually be large explorable cities in typical RPG fashion. And that you're allowed to explore them at your leisure and are allowed leave and do other stuff in the world. Like Final Fantasy 9. NOT being forced along a narrow path with no opportunity to back- or sidetrack and no real city/world exploration to speak of. *cough* Like that piece of crap called Final Fantasy 10. *cough*
  • JediMasterMalik #30 6 years ago

Nikanoru, I think you played a completely different FFX to me, it had plenty of back/side tracking if you wanted. I guess you just had to take another potshot at what is now a Sony franchise. It also had a huge world to explore.
  • Skywise #31 6 years ago

A Bioware game with good gameplay AND good graphics! Can't wait!
  • Lex_Luthor #32 6 years ago

"I guess you just had to take another potshot at what is now a Sony franchise."

Glad to see I'm not the only one to see this annoying troll at work.
  • Nikanoru #33 6 years ago

Jesus, learn to read you freaks, if I'd had a grudge against FF for getting moved off Nintendo consoles then I wouldn't have quoted FF9 as an example of how I like things to be now would I?

    Oops!

And also, I have high hopes for FF12, the changed battle system doesn't bother me one bit and what I've seen of the game makes me very excited indeed.

Doesn't change the fact that FFX was one of the biggest, if not the single biggest disappointment I've had the misfortune to experience. Perhaps I was just expecting way too much. You can not POSSIBLY place FFX anywhere near, oh, one through effing nine, in terms of exploration and non-linearity (or what at least feels like it, which is good enough). That is my opinion and I will not be called a troll for it.

Now, Mass Effect. Like I said, more FF9 and less FFX please. Though, knowing my luck....I'm not holding my breath.
  • smelly #34 5 years ago

I thought both ff8 and ff9 were both shite in comparision to ff7...

ff12 looks okay though.. not gotten around to buying it yet though.
  • HarryB #35 5 years ago

looks swish, I'd imagine it's gonna be a chugger, though.
  • symmetry #36 5 years ago

    Give it to me!

Give it to me RIGHT FUCKING NOW!

    /puts down coffee
  • Bertie Verified Senior Staff Writer, Eurogamer.net #37 5 years ago

Looking a little more in-game in the recent shots. Still would, totally.
  • UncleLou #38 5 years ago

    I like those tight armours.

    On the females.
  • Thamuhacha #39 5 years ago

    Yes, yes very nice.

    When. Is. It. Out?
  • mcmonkeyplc #40 5 years ago

Releases this in September and I will kill Bioware!
  • dirigiblebill #41 5 years ago

Awesome-looking though the game may be, that lead character has all the dramatic presence of a box of PG-tips. For fuck's sake, I know the market won't like it but can we dispense with all these square jaws and uber-pecs? How about an action hero who resembles Bill Murray?
  • Bertie Verified Senior Staff Writer, Eurogamer.net #42 5 years ago

    Excitement overload!

23rd can't come quick enough! Or November!
  • JediMasterMalik #43 5 years ago

Veryvery detailed, lovely looking game, but I can't get over those eyes, they're so robotic.
  • hyperkineticninja #44 5 years ago

    @dirigiblebill

You know you create a character in this game right? Male or female
  • Bertie Verified Senior Staff Writer, Eurogamer.net #45 5 years ago

Routine salivating. Looking a little less "wow" now, and sparse. It floats my boat in all kinds of way, but I can see how people interpret it as dull.
  • Corben_Dallas #46 5 years ago

the Character design is off the scale (Aliens) ,really good 'Star Wars Aliens' Ie they dont all look humoid. Looks a must have.
