Mass Effect DLC on Live today

Asteroid problem.

Microsoft has released the Bring Down the Sky downloadable content on Xbox Live.

It costs 400 Points (GBP 3.40 / EUR 4.80) and offers-up an uncharted world to plod around. Or an asteroid station, if you want to be picky.

You see, some four-eyed Batarians (appearing for the first time) have claimed it as their base of operations for an extremist group, and plan to crash it into a nearby colony and kill millions. Unless you stop them. Or help them. Terrorist.

In total there should be around 90 minutes of fresh adventure on offer, as well as a new Achievement totalling 50 Gamerpoints.

It's also worth remembering that those of you too far advanced in the story will not be able to access this: you need full galaxy-exploration freedom to receive the quest and get to the asteroid.

The download is 253.40 MB, and is the first of many future additions to the widely acclaimed science fiction role-playing game.

Our Mass Effect gamepage has lots more information in that you can eat with your eyes.

still haven't got more than an hour into the main game...

I landed on my first planet and got sick of the vehicle controls really fast and haven't picked the game up since.
    Keep meaning to.

I shall be getting this game. It was awesome first time around and it helps to have the carrot of an extra download. If we're lucky there will be some more scenes of Keith Vaz baiting alien loving.

    Mmm. More downloads.

I might this pick up when I start my "bad" run through the game. At the moment I'm playing 4 games already. Hopefully by the time there will be more content and I can discover it all at once. Still not a bad deal though, beats gamerpics at 100 points.

Having been burnt by the BioShock "Brass Balls" achievement, I held off playing Mass Effect till this DLC was released, and I think that was a good move. Although now I'm knee-deep in Fable, so I may have to wait a little bit longer before I sample some alien lovin'. But I'm really looking forward to playing this one...

This will make me have my 3rd play through.

    @doragor

I was quite thorough on my first play though, but kept the asteroid exploration and side missions to a minimum the second time around (which isn't finished a might add).

If the driving bugs you (me too) to the degree that you risk not bothering with the game, I would just sack it off. The main mission has only small sections of driving in it, in much more interesting and more easily navigable locations too. Its worth persisting as the bulk of the game is much more fun.

Well, I started my 4th play-through in preparation for this one - on insanity....i hope those new creatures play nice with me :S. Even after i complete this play-through, i will probably start a new one in preparation for the next DLC batch - I LOVE THIS GAME - BEST £35 I ever spent

  • Fwing #13 4 years ago

You either love it or you hate it.
I love it and am SUPAR EXCITED.

It's a good game, and I enjoyed playing it through twice, but I really don't want to pay £3.40 for yet another small identikit base.

I found the driving to be a total pain in the arse....

...until I realised that it wasn't like Halolll's Warthogs.

In fact - the vehicle just goes in whichever direction you are pushing the stick - meaning you don't have to line it up, and then push forwards. For me, this also means that it is possible to engage enemies on planets, out in the open, and do a passable imitation of a circle strafe.

and for me it does not spoil the fun at all

I'm tempted to get this but i will be just disappointed as palaying ME. I'm replaying though NWN expansion Hords of the Underdark and the characters like Deekin have more personality then all the characters in ME put together. I think i'll wait for the PC version.
  • miiiguel #19 4 years ago

I kinda liked the driving. Well, I played the game for over 100 hours, so I guess I got used to it.
  • darkphoenix #20 4 years ago

    Great...

Everybody who has finished the game has to start all over again just to be able to do the galaxy exploration, and get to this...

Why couldn“t Bioware leave us the chance to explore once the main quest was over?

Bad design decision, and I don't intend to restart Mass Effect everytime a new dlc gets released....
  • Petrarch #21 4 years ago

Got this downloading atm - anything Mass Effect gets my money without a second thought.

Yes, the game has some graphical glitches, but none of that takes away from the atmosphere or fun factor at all.
  • dustrat #22 4 years ago

Just finished the DLC. Seems like the designers have been thinking a bit here. Very fun mission!

    @ Crofto

"that game is actually good enough to warrant starting a new game to experience new content, while Mass Effect isn't. "

Says the guy who finished the game 6 times.
