Marvel vs. Capcom 2 gets June date News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

6 May, 2009

Marvel Entertainment has announced a 29th June release date for PSN and XBLA fighter Marvel vs. Capcom 2. The date was revealed along with the comic-book maker's Q1 2009 financial results.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 unsurprisingly pits Marvel characters against Capcom creations. This old Dreamcast game was confirmed for revival at the Captivate '09 event recently, and returns with the netcode from Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, which was very good. Presentation will be given similar treatment, too.

A PSN-exclusive US demo has already been released, and a PAL version is to follow.

The full game will cost 1200 Microsoft Points (GBP 10.20 / EUR 14.40) on Xbox Live Arcade or USD 14.99 from the PlayStation Store.

Head over to our Marvel vs. Capcom 2 gamepage for some pictures and a video.

I must admit though it looks a little crap in 16:9, this ain't no SSF2THDR. Still ONLINE mean instant buy! Even if it is 1200 *grumble* *grumble*

Can we get more than a local MP demo over here though Capcom!

You know what, poke it Capcom. Poke this (I have DC anyway), poke DR2 and, well anything you release actually.

I just saw the story on yet more DLC fleecing on SF4, and quite frankly I don't want to spend my money with you until you fix up.

EA, watch it you're next....

@bad09: I'm sure Capcom are literally this minute taking a long hard look at themselves and asking where it all went wrong after reading your mature comment that didn't read like a child spitting their dummy out in the slightest.

No dummy spitting and wasn't aiming for mature just angry, just consumer saying no in a comments page in an angry tone.

and I meant it....

I agree with bad09. Capcom's DLC policy makes me sick.

However...I don't know if i'll be able to resist MvC2. I'm weak!

I tried the US PS3 demo, which is multiplayer only by the way, last week and was surprised at how good it still looks despite the fact that this is no HD remix like Street Fighter II was. Plays great with the Dualshock 3's D-pad too. I wasn't going to bother with this game, even though I loved it on the Dreamcast, but now I've tried it and seen that it doesn't look as pig-ugly as I expected it too, I'll probably buy it. It's the only 2D Capcom game I've ever liked - I don't even like Street Fighter IV to tell the truth.

I checked on the Hong Kong store today and it's not there. Damn, I can't wait.
