Marvel vs Capcom 2 for "late July" News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

29 June, 2009

Capcom has announced that PSN and XBLA remake Marvel vs Capcom 2 will be released in late July, and not late June as Marvel had lead us to believe.

"MvC2 is not actually coming out on June 29, sorry guys. Not sure where that rumour came from, but it's going to be closer to the end of July," the publisher Twittered.

Marvel vs Capcom 2 will be based on the Dreamcast codebase and return to life with "crisp" and "smooth" graphics, similar to - but not to the same degree as - Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

The price - 1200 Microsoft Points (GBP 10.20 / EUR 14.40) on XBLA / USD 14.99 on PlayStation Store - will also be the same. There's an exclusive demo of Marvel vs Capcom 2 on the PlayStation Store.

1200 points is a bit steep but I'm still getting this. Many fond memories of the Dreamcast version.

Not that I'm bothered about price but 1200 is a bit steep considering SSF2T got a whole graphical overhall and a remixed soundtrack for the same price.

@bad09

Yeah but MvsC2 has a lot more characters and is a more expansive game in other departments than the looks and audio.

With that logic games like Gears 2 should cost a lot more than Prototype.

But MvC2 made its bulk production costs back when they released it in the Arcades, on the DC and on the Xbox.

Production costs has little to do with pricing of a game unfortunatly. Its what people are willing to pay that determines the pricepoint.

SF Three Hi-Def pleeeeeeeeeeeease. Also Xmen Vs Street Fighter. 2D beat em-ups where always more fun - can't wait for the new King Of Fighters XII; remains 2d but hi-def and none of this silly 2.5d that spoilt Street Fighter IV (games seemed more of a button masher and did not have the atmosphere of SF III, thanks to it's cartoony backgrounds and characters!).

Just downloaded Mark Of The Wolves...a good fighter, but, spoilt as it looks to old and pixellated. If only they put more effort into sharpening up the animation and bring in HD - these class 2D beat em-ups will remain classics.

The backgrounds in Marvel vs Capcom 2 were crap though!
