Mark of Chaos for 360 News

Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

8 August, 2007

German ratings board USK has spilled the beans on a Warhammer: Mark of Chaos port for Xbox 360.

The listing was produced to cover a demo supposedly on show at Games Convention 2007 in Leipzig, which takes place between 23rd - 28th August.

Koch Media is said to be the publisher, but was unavailable to comment at time of writing.

Warhammer: Mark of Chaos is a real-time strategy title based around the popular Games Workship franchise. It was developed by Black Hole Entertainment for PC and released last November to middle of the road reviews.

Put simply, RTS fans have better titles to pick from on the PC, although die-hard Warhammer followers will find it to be the best recreation of the tabletop game to date.

Head over to our Warhammer: Mark of Chaos review for a closer inspection.

I hope to God they'll scale back the difficulty a little.

It was alot of fun fielding an army of Skaven though. Really fun. Gutter Runners FTW, also Plague Monks.

I just wanted to see an expansion pack adding more armies, namely some of the elven races. Well the Dark Elves really.

So?, console gamers have better racers and action games, but you don't say this in PC articles about racing games do you?.

Keep the PC fanboy in check when writing articles please.

The PC version missed the mark for me, and console versions of RTS are still fairly below par comparatively.

SniperWolf, I think what he's trying to say is that it just wasn't anything great, but the GW players liked it. He's not saying anything about consoles, just that the game didn't stand out on the original platform.

Anyway, it got quite bad feedback from the GW communities I know, and I doubt this will change that.

On PC it was a mediocre RTS, but it sold really well, so hence the X360 version.
Warhammer is a very strong brand.

I must admit I don't think consoles will ever be suitable for RTSs (unless they're action based, lead from the front, type affairs like Kingdom Under Fire. But then I used to think the same about FPSs until Halo came along (GoldenEye was good but hardly a threat to PC FPS dominance).

while the eurogamer review nit-picked a bit too much for my liking, it seemed more time had been spent on the graphics than the rest of the game. A very linear progression through levels, even Dark Omen allowed you multiple choice paths and each one affected how the game progressed and a severe lack of tactics made it a bland and boring game with no strategic or tactical depth at all.
