As a Wii owner, I'm sick and fed up of waiting months and months for key Nintendo releases that have been out elsewhere for ages. I've been pre-ordering games then cancelling them as they suffer delay after delay and using the money to buy games on other formats like the 360, PS3, PS2 and PC instead. I think I've cancelled about five or six Wii games from Gameplay.com in total as I originally wanted them but found my interest in them waning during the prolonged wait. Currently I'm debating whether to cancel Trauma Center Second Opinion, a game I pre-ordered SEVEN months ago and which has been out in the US since last December and we still won't get it until late July at the earliest... and I'm betting that too is delayed again. It's just not good enough and I wish Nintendo would get their bloody act together and release games within a short time frame of the US and Japan instead of making us Europeans wait what seems like forever for games...

@Darren: I agree completely - I belive the Wii is my last Nintendo console. Tired of the same shit every time and Nintendo's empty promises for Europe.

Droughts when a console launches are understandable, but Europeans getting games months (or years) later is completely ridiculous. Nintendo is particularly bad in this regard.

Yeah yeah yeah localisation etc, but for most European countries that explanation makes no sense. European localisation usually only covers English, Spanish, German, French and Italian, which means most European languages never ever get their own version.

If (for example) Sweden never gets a Swedish version of a game, why shouldn't they get the US version straight away? The odds are that they'd choose the English language option anyway, so why shouldn't they get the English language version at the same time as the Yanks?

And as for the UK and Ireland, it's absolutely ludicrous that we can't get the American version at the same time as the Americans. Often when the Euro English version does appear, it is just a very very delayed release of the American version, with things like "color", "dollars", American voice actors etc.

It's understandable if countries like France and Germany have to wait due to language laws, but why should the rest of us wait?

Apparently the BBFC won't allow this to be released until the "Peach's soggy biscuit" and "Daisy's Bukkake" mini games are removed.

My Wii is my current Ninty console. I'll just play my other consoles and wait till the great games appear on the Wii. There's no point in getting upset about it. Nintendo have always been the same. Yet we all make their console number one. Head scratchingly bizarre really.

"its european law"

It's not though, the only laws that cover this are national ones. France and Germany have laws restricting how much non-native language films and games can be released there, so they have to get versions in their own languages, but the UK doesn't have those laws and neither do most countries in Europe.

@Darren could you enlighten me on the 5 or 6 games that you pre-ordered and then cancelled? Super Paper Mario and Trauma Center are the only worthwhile titles still to be released in Europe IMO.

Do you hear the Xbox 360 fans crying over Blue Dragon?

Nintendo’s European Wii software support is much better than any previous Nintendo console’s software support. If games have to be multi-regional then why can’t they work on translating the language from day 1?

@Sid Nice... I had Eledees, Excite Truck, Mario Party 8, Mario Strikers Charged and a few others pre-ordered and have since changed my mind about getting them due to various delays, etc., etc.

As for the delay in getting Blue Dragon on the 360, that is ONE game compared with all the others we 360 owners get within weeks of a game being released Stateside whereas on the Wii, almost every single decent release since launch has been subject to loooooooooooong delays. Where's Super Paper Mario? Where's Trauma Centre: Second Opinion? Eh?

It's understandable that they want a no 1, and need to wait for Forza 2 sales to die down first.

Come of it.. you're SERIOUSLY waiting for this game? it's supposed to be average to say the least.

Europe has mercury and strikers way before the states (which are both the best games on the wii at the moment)

uk gamers whinge something cronic.

@Darren, I can understand why you cancelled your pre-order for Mario strikers Charged; it must have been the shock that the game wasn't delayed and was released on the 25th of May in Europe opposed to 30th of July in the US and the 31 of December in Japan.

I think that you like to pre-order games only to cancel the order before your credit card is charged. :)
