Mario & Sonic comes from behind

To claim chart gold. Top 40 inside.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games has returned to the number one position in the UK's All Formats Top 40 chart according to data released by Chart-Track, as SEGA's duplication presumably gets a second wind.

It's certainly nothing to do with the upcoming DS version of the game, which isn't due out until early February.

It is also the third different title to reach the top spot so far this year in as many weeks, as Activision's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare dropped to second place.

Nintendo exclusives - either for Wii or DS - made up over half of the All Formats Top 10 charts for the first time since September 2007, which suggests the Nintendo factory finally got its pistons moving last week.

With the exception of The Simpsons Game, which moved up one place, every multi-format game in the top ten lost sales. SEGA's Ghost Squad and Capcom's Zack & Wiki debuted in the Top 40 charts at number 20 and 25, respectively.

Only played on a Wii for the first time on sat and was really dissapointed. To be fair we only played the shitty mini games such as wii play and mario and sonic at the olympics. They were naff why do people buy this tosh.

Im still intreaged to try Zelda and mario galaxy and hopefully they will be really good.

I couldnt find Link's Crowsbow Training the past few weeks, finally found a copy the other day in some obscure shop.

I still haven't managed to find this anywhere.

NOE can't even make enough copies of any game now....so we have late releases and hardly any of the games availible.

I've never know a game to 'run-out' so to speak, but thats what happened with Mario Galaxy and Sonic and Mario! Both are popular but no-where near enough to literally run out of stock...

It's also because Nintendo have decided to manufacturer most games or something.....

Nintendo have always struggled to keep games on the shelves. The same happened for the GameCube. Top titles were always difficult to find after a few weeks of being on the shelves. It's rediculous.

    37. My Word Couch (DS)

    Oh the irony.

so we actually get the chart listed now instead of a vague story. eurogamers on its way up

I assume the "Nintendo owners don't buy games" crowd are conveniently ignoring this article.

    1. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii, DS)

So that's it; the sales have been boosted by the DS release "Oh wait a minute the DS version isn't out yet."

Nights only managed to make the No 30 spot in the Wii Chart; this might have something to do with Nintendo listing the game with a 25/01/08 release date. Having said that Ghost Squad did pretty good and that was also listed with a 25/01/08 release date. Poor Geometry Wars didn't even get on the radar; I didn't buy the game until yesterday and I’d like to say “The game is well worth £20 of anyone’s money.”
