Manhunt 2 finally gets release date News

PlayStation 2 PSP Wii
News by Ellie Gibson

6 October, 2008

Rockstar has finally announced a release date for Manhunt 2 after months (in fact years, come to think of it) of waiting.

The game will be out on Friday October 31st, according to IGN. It'll be available for Wii, PS2 and PSP.

Manhunt 2 has already been out in the US for a whole year, but the UK release was delayed after the British Board of Film Classification refused to give it an age certificate.

Rockstar appealed against the decision and back in March, the BBFC was forced to change its mind.

Now there are just a few weeks to go before we'll be able to play the game. Happy Halloween! Unless you're Keith Vaz.

Unless you're Keith Vaz - or anyone with a preference for playing good games.

I think Keith Vaz might be preoccupied with other matters at the moment.

Incredibly violent game that is unremittingly grim? Coming to the Wii? Hmm... Well, I suppose the Daily Mail needs to fill its pages somehow.

I wouldn't bother with this one, it's absolutely awful. On PSP anyway.

I find it hard to imagine those with a 360 or PS3 will have any need for this with the other key titles due out next month.

Really not interested in this title at all but at least the work of the development team wasn't in vain. Hopefully though future games will have another selling point than glorified violence.

Hardly Vaz's first brush with corruption allegations! The guy's a serial sleaze-bucket.

I liked the 1st one personally (and i've not killed anyone yet)

....will prob give this a miss because now the PS2 is gathering dust and it seems overcensored....bit of a shame imo last year i prob would've checked it out, gamer sensiblities are skew whiffy should they not take interest in a particular violent title, they should have renamed it GTA:Manhunter or sommat

Wake me up if they actually manage to turn it into a good game when they do that.

I've got a patch on my PSP version that 'un-censors' the deaths etc.

It's still really, really bad. And I loved the first one :(

I think the BBC issue will really hurt the sales of this game unfortunately. I know that I was interested in it last year, but aren't really interested anymore.

I couldn't get into the 1st one on the PC. Stealth kills never worked for me.
However I got the uncut patch + the PSP version already so I probably will skip the PS2 version.
Play.com has it listed for October 31st since ages btw.

Too late, and the nonsense stopping the release LAST SUMMER lost Nintendo a UK Wii sale.

About time, trouble is there's so much good stuff coming out at the same time I'll probably give it a miss, I might pick a copy up in the new year if the reviews are good.

Tried a BETA of this a while ago, and it had nothing on the first game, which was actually a pretty decent stealth-em up with a nasty atmosphere and excellent voice acting from Billy Cox.
Manhunt 2 didn't even bother to justify the violence by having somebody 'force' you. Basically you could check out gameradar's collection of kill-clips and you wouldn't need to play the game, which was buggy, unresponsiven and pretty drab, graphics-wise.
