On Wednesday night, 64 hardened Eurogamer operatives will take to the networked battlefield in the massive MAG tournament we've been trailing, with official invites going out today for people who have been selected to participate in the London event.

If your Eurogamer username is on the list below, or you receive an email from us telling you that you've made it, you should consider yourself on the team! All you have to do is come down to the venue tomorrow, 20th January, between 6.30pm and 7pm GMT to get it on.

The tournament is taking place at P3, Westminster University, and you should enter via the 35 Marylebone Road entrance. There will be ample signage to catch your attention, and it's also worth noting that the nearest tube station is Baker Street.

As previously mentioned, the first 64 people on the list below to arrive and confirm their Eurogamer username and email address (which will be used to verify your identity and nothing else) will be able to join the Eurogamer team, and will receive a free special edition of MAG on their way out of the venue following the tournament.

But don't worry if you're a few minutes late - the tournament also doubles as the official MAG launch event, so anybody else who makes it will be able to enjoy the free food and grown-up drinks, chat to Eurogamer staff and watch the tournament unfold - and if your name is on the list you will still be sent a free regular edition of MAG following the event.

Selected Eurogamer operatives will be able to take part in a massive 64-versus-64 player battle against a rival website in MAG's Acquisition mode, and thanks to your votes we will be represented by the Seryi Volk Executive Response (SVER) faction - check out the SVER introduction video on Eurogamer TV to get a sense of our adopted past.

Once SVER has roundly slaughtered those evil rival website enemies, we will join forces with those brave rival website friends we just mentioned and combine for an even more massive 128-versus-128 player battle against the developers of the game, Zipper Interactive, who will be logging in from the US. We will prevail.

It should be a pretty wicked evening, with plenty of Eurogamer folks around to chat and Eurogamer TV filming (we could make you sort of vaguely famous!) in addition to members of the dev team to hassle. Congratulations if you've made the cut, and we hope to see you on Wednesday evening!

Then why did you sign up for the tournament? Would you sign up for a football tournament if you'd never played football before?

As far as tips go, this is not a game where you try to get the most kills. Listen to what the squad commander tells you and work with your team. Sometimes covering fire is just as good as killing someone.

Out of interest, I wonder what level characters they will give you guys?

I don't think EG should've announce the freebies prior to the tournament and left it as anice surprise ... might have lead to people who have actually played the game being selected!

Never played as SVER but can't be that bad. Prays for a defense map. Is there an estimated finishing time so I can sort out a train from London Euston to Birmingham.

Could have said something yesterday though. Kind of a rush to get things arranged.

Good luck I hope you get at least 5 character points, if you guys get to talk to each other before you design your characters I hope that you do not all pick the same classes,
and make sure that you have the fore grips.
And some medics it is much easier to hold a point if you do not have to run back from the spawning point,
when you get hit.
Personally I thought that MAG was all about line of sight,
if you are direct action it is quite easy to stay out of long range snipers, and run.

What other games is MAG like.
It reminded me of Rainbow Six a little but that may just be the team play, I did not think it was as fast as a lot off FPS.

a) it was not restricted to people who played the beta... I didn't play it simply because I missed the announcement!
b) I have played lots of FPSs for many years... I know they're all a bit different but it's not like "playing a football tournament without having ever played footballl"
c) I don't mind being a "grunt" and do whatever leaders tell me - I think there's room for inexperienced but disciplined players in that game
d) and last but not least it looks like a great game that I will enjoy a lot so I signed up!

For those of you who haven't been able to play either of the closed or open beta's here are the controls:

left stick - movement
right stick - aiming
X - Jump
O - Action
Square - Reload
Triangle - Tap (toggle crouch/prone), Hold (toggle stand/prone)

L1 - Scope/Iron sights
L2 - Cycle gear
L3 - Sprint
R1 - Fire weapon / Use gear
R2 - Cycle weapons
R3 - Knife swipe

D-pad up - Chat channel select
D-pad down - Context-sensitive orders and targets
D-pad left - Command abilities / strikes
D-pad right - Request / call troops
Select - Map
Start - Pause

SMOM - looks like you just need to say your account name and the email address tied to your account to verify your identity. I'm making a daytrip outta it. Spend a few hours in the capital, visit National History Museum and then kill a few yanks. Makes me sound like an assassin. The closest tube stop on the same line as Baker Street as well.

Awseome! I'm in! I was a Raven man myself but it seems that SVER have good defensive points, so it's ok. I wonder how they're going to handle the skill point count...if we'll just start at 1 again or will we be given all our qualifications and ranks from the open beta...anyhow, it is awseome to be playing the game again so soon, especially with EG and firstly against (I think) IGN, then the actual devs from Zipper Interactive?!!!!! What an experience it'll be!! Can't wait!!!

It was dead good and Ellie called me ungrateful. I just was annoyed at having queued ages when I needed to have a wee.

Thanks Eurogamer, Sony and IGN. Our intro was the best and we creamed them hard. Also the beer was free. Wheeee!

That was the coolest night ever and I soo wish you guys did something like this again! Shame I'm a year under the age limit, otherwise I would have enjoyed a couple cool glasses of beer, instead I had to settle with squash. Who cares anyway, it was ALL FREE!! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!

Fantastic evening. It was great fun destroying the other website's team twice. Who would have thought that the developers knew exactly how to defend their base in Domination?

Great night, we destroyed IGN with a great help to SVER28 (AKA Smom) who got 55 kills to 10 deaths in the 1st round and then 18 kills to 3 deaths in the second round. he said it was all to do with the free beer and food.

Was a great night all in all, awesome fun, great company and free food and beer which is always a plus. It was great beating IGN, shame about the yanks but it was fairly close.

Good stuff EG, hopefully there's more stuff like this in the future.
