Mad Tracks out now

Live Arcade's first racer.

Microsoft has revealed that today's Live Arcade offering is 3D racing game Mad Tracks.

It's available everywhere (apart from Korea) and will cost you 800 points, which translates to almost seven quid, and roughly 10 Euros.

Mad Tracks has been available as a budget-buy for PC since last year, and is made up of nine mini-game challenges and six different races. There are 12 cars to choose from, plus multiplayer support for up to four of you to duke it out on Live or in split-screen mode.

Stackable power-ups like rockets, freezers, oil drops and EMPs are dotted around to help you gain the edge. And the normal spattering of 12 achievements and 200 Gamerscore points are also on offer. Look out for a review later this week.

    "Live Arcade's first racer."

I think not, Novadrome has been out for ages.

Completed everything ya can for free (not much) imgaine "Revolt" but without the artistic flair (Revolt was also one of the first games me an the mates used through messenger) - although this does seem to have more modes i.e. ball chasing in a half dome.

Not bad - would have bought revolt for 800 points, would need them to unlock a little more on this as not sure there is enough to get ya hooked.

    Trackmania has nothing to fear.

P.S. if you car suddenly stop's it is because it is spring powered and you have to release the accel button when ever you think the time is right.

However - this gimmick seems broken, as rapidly tapping the accel trigger results in no loss of speed and spring never compresses fully.

Just played it, sucks big time. Feels like a cheap shareware game. Gutted cos I was looking forward to this one.

If you've got a PS3 too, stick with Gripshift which is the same price, if not cheaper, and far, far superior.

Novodrome was not a racer ;)

grip shift is fun, and cheap, I just hate the presentation and the music, it makes me feel sick, a bit like the live arcade version of frogger... most arcade stuff has no style, and as someone said above, feels like shareware. (small arms, geometry wars are some exceptions)

Did anyone play ignition on the PC? that was a fantastic racing game, I wish that was on live...saying that I haven't played it in 7 years its probably awful now!

    Wasn't Gripshift shit?
  • udat #10 5 years ago

Someone port Micro Machines 2, do it now!

    @Beano:
Uh huh, and what do you call a game where you drive around a track aiming to be first to complete a number of laps?
  • GamesConnoisseur #12 5 years ago

I had gripshift but deleted it as the handling was too sensitive in my opinion, keep going all over the place but straight ahead!

Only tried trial of Mad track, seemed pretty basic but fun.

Thought Novadrome was a car-combat game similar to Twisted Metal (only far worse)?

I only played it briefly but it didn't appear as a racing game to me :)

I'm sure there are plenty of modes in Novadrome as well.

Mad Tracks was pretty bad. I wish Trackmania would come to the X360, or a Mashed game.
  • menage #15 5 years ago

    Or super off-road 2007!!
  • ishigo #16 5 years ago

    Mashed XBLA for massive win!

BTW, I just realized the other day that Championship Sprint is coming to the PSN! Really looking forward to that.

Championship Sprint! OMG I absolutely loved that game!
