Lumines Supernova coming soon to PS3 News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

8 December, 2008

Q Entertainment plans to release Lumines Supernova on the PlayStation Network sometime over the next couple of months - winter, you might call it.

There's nothing more specific, unfortunately, nor a price. But we do know there will be a special LittleBigPlanet skin for the musical puzzle game.

Lumines Supernova is another iteration of the wonderful - and much ported - block-dropping series, where screens are cleared by arranging squares of 2x2 in the same colour. These are then removed when a vertical line sweeps from left to right.

New here are loads more skins (levels) for the Challenge mode, a Dig Down mode where falling blocks help clear a screen already clogged with squares, a create-your-own-music Sequencer mode, plus Skin Edit and Time Attack modes.

There's a Puzzle / Mission mode as well, where blocks are arranged into pre-defined patterns, and two people can battle against each other on the same console.

Oh, and Trophy support.

Bought it on PSP, bought it on live (got all but one trophies despite the horrible d-pad) and I'll probably get it again on PSN. I just love me some Lumines!

quite liked this on live, although the puzzle mode still puzzles me, i'm convinced i have made the shape it is looking for but it says no!

will prob buy this if priced reasonably if only so i dont have to fight the 360s dpad or plug in my arcade stick when i just want a quick blast of the game.

oh and if anyone knows how to pronounce the name it would be much appreciated!

Just don't sell it in that awful split up format like the XBLA one. I hated that way of bundling seperate modes in DLC.

Loo mi nes. At least that's how I say it.

It's due on the US PSN this week. Hopefully Europe isn't too far behind (optimism lol).

Puzzle mode requires the shape to have no other colors attached to it directly, not even - and this is crucial - vertically.

Hopefully the PSN version will be a complete game, unlike what they did to Lumines Live. Lumines 1 & 2 on the PSP were awesome.

@Santino

Have a listen to the Lady on the "Pulse" Sony Show, she pronounces it a few times.

Cool, never played this but often toyed with the idea of getting Lumines Plus on PS2 so I would be interested in checking this out. A demo would also be nice, please.

Loo-min-ez I always thought. Although I quite like 'Loo-Mines'. Sometimes wondered whether Armitage actually made them.
