LOTRO: Mines of Moria dated
MMO to expand in November.
Codemasters Online plans to release Lord of the Rings Online expansion pack Mines of Moria on 18th November across Europe and North America.
The add-on hails the arrival of Kazad-dum, the dwarven kingdom set under the mountain where the big, fiery balrog lives.
More importantly, Mines of Moria increases the level cap by 10, adds two new classes, and offers up plenty of fresh monsters, quests, and shiny loot.
Those pre-ordering the expansion will be granted access to a special lifetime subscription rate of GBP 119.99 / EUR 149.99. Gosh, what a bargain.
There's also a Cloak of Sunset for early buyers, as well as character title "Moria Expeditionary" and an in-game token to buy items with.

Yeah, it's got about 3-400,000 subscribers. Not WoW-numbers, but not much is.
It's a shame so few people give it the credit it deserves, though, as it's a lot of fun, a good balance between the instant, fast-levelling play of WoW/WAR and the depth of EQ or SWG-style RPGs.

Balls or madness or both.

Sure LOTRO doesn't have WoW's user-base, but I think it has a more die-hard audience. So whereas the likes of WAR will pull WoW players away from their game, I don't see WotLK pulling people away from LOTRO.
Just my impressions, anyway.

Couldn't give two shits about WoW myself, and neither could most LOTRO players.

"Eh? Not a big reader in your childhood I take it?"
Ohh... beaten to it.
A bit sad really that once someone points out that a lot of these games are "X of Y" it becomes the witty comment of the month. The 3rd or 4th time you read it it loses the funny.
As for the timing I think it's a good move on Turbines part providing they're ready, rushing it would be a bad idea. In general I think MMO players tend to have longer term plans; if someone is playing both LOTRO and WoW and expansions come out for both then the vast majority will buy both expansions and carry on. If they're playing and enjoying only one of the two then the fact that both expansions are out at the same time will mean that they'll be more inclined to stay put rather than switch to the other (mind you, these expansions tend to contain end-game extensions for the most part so they don't tend to have a whole lot to offer or draw in new players). The only players Turbine will lose to WoW because of WOTLK will be those who joined looking for something to mess about while waiting for WOTLK to come out, those are more than likely lost either way.

Good point.
I wonder how many people will bounce back though once they've "finished" Lich King? I'm not putting WoW down but I found once I'd hit 60, I lost interest, I bought BC, played to 70, finished all the quests I could solo and then found myself twiddling my thumbs again. I played some PvP but it was too much of a drag and too slow to progress, so I shelved my account and then cancelled it a few months ago. I hadn't actually played WoW for over 6 months...
Don't get me wrong, I had a lot of fun UP to that level but once I hit the high-end, I found WoW didn't have anything there for me. I prefer games with "side-stuff" like SWG had or LOTRO has - housing, vanity items, etc. It's one area I think WoW is lacking in and would have liked to see addressed. Sure, some will suggest I go play The Sims if I want to play housey, but for me the ability to have somewhere to show-off items, etc and have a bit more "role-play-ish" stuff is an important aspect of any MMO.

Invert that and you'll see one of the reasons why WAR holds no interest for me. Not everybody needs to play PvP to have a good experience.

Luckily WAR has now broken my WoW habit!

I came late to the LOTRO party but from what I can gather, yeah, there's been a lot more added. I couldn't tell you WHAT, as it's all been in since I started playing
