Lost game this year News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Robert Purchese

18 April, 2007

Two of the executive producers on never-ending TV series Lost, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, have said the game based on the show will be out this year.

The pair's podcast also let slip that the game is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal - the team behind Assassin's Creed and Prince of Persia - and will be available on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Lindelof and Cuse were responding to a question from a Canadian fan, asking whether they could confirm the game's release on Xbox 360 this year.

Lindelof was first to nod his assent, before Cuse added: "Not just for Xbox [360]; it'll also be PS3 and PC compatible."

"We were sitting here with the guys that are making it, [who] actually are from Canada - Montreal. And they did a demo of some of the elements of it and it's really cool. It's actually going to be a pretty cool game."

It's the first we've heard anything since Ubisoft gobbled up the rights to produce games based on the series back in 2005.

However, the handheld versions promised back then weren't mentioned by the producer pair, so perhaps they forgot about them, or they're on the other side of the island or something.

Lost follows the adventures of a group of people struggling to survive after their plane crash on a Pacific Island. Mystery ensues. The series has been a massive hit almost everywhere it's been released, clamping many of us in its sandy jaws. Juliet is the new Kate.

Unfortunately, Ubisoft was unavailable to comment on all this at the time of writing. Or was it, etc.

Lets hope there's more bloody answers in the game than there is in the show, getting a bit sick of every answer we get spawning another 3 questions. Oh, and also they really should have licensed Cryengine 2 for this :)

"Juliet is the new Kate."

Not sure about that, but if they can get the Kate / Juliet mud-wrestling-while-chained-together bit into the game, I'm sold.

If its a survival and exploration game it could be good. But I still can't see how it will work =/.

A Lost game could become a new type of Fallout or Bioshock game but that's about as likely as Uwe Boll making a good movie.

(Oh and season 3 have been great even though season 2 was a bit rubbish)

Ubisoft already owns the original Cryengine, so I imagine they'll be using that. ;)

Hopefully development of the game isn't like the show: just making it up as they go and hoping for the best.

@Waldo - You get that impression to?

Oddly though Im hopelessly addicted thinking each week will bring answers. As for Lockes father all I can imagine is that it will pan out to be something of interest.
Without giving anything away I believe that some of that story line is starting to tie up.

Obsequious you spoiling twat. Not that I'm too interested in Lost at the moment cos I don't have Sky but I'll probably see it on dvd within a year. Thanks. Retroactive spoiler alert isn't so funny really. Anyways..

This game could be a cool open ended exploration game, with plot points activated by discovering new areas and unlocked by achieving certain problem solving events. Being able to explore the whole island should be essential, with certain death if you go to an area that is meant to be off limits from polar bears or whatever :p ... who knows if done right it could be cool.

Kate is the new Juliet Bravo.

Black Cloudy stuff whisks her off to rural england where she takes up the role of outsider boss of country police station.

She looks good dressed as a copper and wins a Bafta.

Polar bear to make cameo(not camel-toe) appearances

Hurley still fat!

At least they got a nice team developing it. Makes also sense that it's coming this year and not before, since it's only now that the series has started to unravel it's mysteries.

Why is everyone intent on this game being about people stuck on the "island"? HALF of the TV series is portrayed in flashbacks, being half of the game might not even be set there, therefore opening up limitless possibilities for the development team.

Thanks for spoiling it. And btw this isn't sarcasm. I've had enough of the garbage that is lost. I haven't seen anything of the third series except clips, but it gets more ridiculous as it goes on.
No offence to fans(I know plenty)but I just hate it and the characters.

'or they're on the other side of the island or something'

Or the other island.

Series 3 is actually quite good compared to series 2. Lots of questions answered. Also, I like the flashback stories ... so na :P

Not sure how the story in the game would work, maybe if they use the other people who crashed but are only seen walking around as extras etc.

Yes, lets not stray from the point x)

Can anyone think of a single non animated, non movie spin off TV ip that served a decent game?

I doubt the game will involve itself directly in the narrative flow of the TV series. More of an expansion of the story I daresay. Possibilities include...

Lost: Pre-Crash
Set before the beginning of the show. Your character is an earlier resident of the island. Searching for escape you explore the island and uncover its secrets (some already seen and some hinting at things to come). In a postmodern twist your character meets his maker at the end and the secrets he learns die with him.

Lost: Side-Story
Seen the episode Expose yet? If you have then you get the idea, play as another of the often overlooked other crash survivors you weave in and out of the existing story whilst doing your own thing. Again there'll be lots of familiar landmarks combined with new revelations that hint at upcoming events.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the last idea is the most likely as it allows for the presence of some of the show's acting talent. I'm also wondering about playable flashbacks.
