Logitech to do Guitar Hero 4 instruments
Activision green-lights third-party gear.
Logitech, which makes steering wheels and keyboards and mice, will now make "premium instruments" for Guitar Hero World Tour.
Support will be offered for all platforms - 360, PS3, PS2, Wii - and the first creations will be available alongside the game this autumn.
"With Logitech, we know we have found the right partner who can deliver top-quality premium hardware that consumers have come to expect from Guitar Hero," said RedOctane bigwig Charles Huang.
We certainly look forward to having a choice.
Head over to our Guitar Hero World Tour preview to how the game is shaping up.

That said,
"None of the manufacturers are going to give the thumbs up to that. You definitely wouldn't be able to get your product licensed for 360 (a pre-requisite of actually selling them!) if it also supported PS3"
I think the only issue would come into play with the various PS and XB buttons needed on the peripheral. The vendors probably wouldn't be happy with their competitors logo appearing next to their own. If there were no technical submission rule forbidding that, I'm not sure they would really care that much. The things that seem like outrageous heresy to a handful of fanboys don't really bother serious businesses.
The main reason I can think of that we wouldn't see sucha peripheral is it would push the price up and have a small market. I mean how many people out there would actually spend extra to buy a controller that worked within one specific game on two different consoles? We are talking about a market who have essentially bought the same game twice. I would dispute such a market exists in any size worth inventing in.

My place can only house so many plastic instruments! Ghaa! Gaming is supposed to be simple. I can't be arsed with choice, dammit!
Baaa, baaaaaa.........

I call BS. Logitech makes great hardware and had good customer support in the past.

Who said it would be one instrument for all consoles? It says they'll support, i.e. make, instruments for all the consoles surely?

2 keyboards out of 3 and 1 mouse out of 2 (1 of them after 1 month)
not a statistic to make me a BSter...unlucky maybe??

That is disappointing to hear. You would hope they wouldn't be so purile about these things.
I also call shenanigans on suggestions that Logitech make tatty equipment. There will always be failures, the odd anecdote doesn't really count for much. Generally speaking their stuff is pretty good.
