LocoRoco PS3 next Thursday News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

12 September, 2007

Sony has rolled down our news hill and sung confirmation that LocoRoco Cocoreccho will be available next Thursday on the PlayStation Network.

It's the one that's an interactive screensaver rather than a fully-fledged game, remember - and will cost GBP 1.99 (EUR 2.92) to download.

So when you sit there not doing anything for a little while, your not-a-game will start - maybe you were looking out of the window at a passing squirrel or a talking hedgehog.

The idea is to wake up the LocoRoco using a little butterfly, then guide them around the map by titling scenery using the Sixaxis controller. See, it is used for something.

All-in-all we're told there will be more than 200 singing blobs to play around with, as well as baddies to stop you getting to the end of the level in one piece.

Pop over to our LocoRoco Cocoreccho gamepage for a closer look.

A screensaver, it should be free.

Don't think £1.99 is bad personally. They have to recoup development costs.

"A screensaver, it should be free."

There's already a free screensaver supplied with the console (F@H)... ;)

Not quite sure why a fully 1080p'd up port of the lovely PSP edition would have been a bad idea on 6-axis... esp for £9.99 or something (scratches head). I'd have it like a shot.

"by titling scenery"

...and I call that bit of scenery over there, a "hill"...

one of the few things sony have gotten right so far is the price for downloadable content. Its a no brainer really even if it is just a fancy screensaver. Now what happened to all them ps1 games eh?

Yeah, the price is right on that one. I just hope that the other news i read about the GT5 prologue costing 45 Euros is not true...

"Interactive screensaver" is a contradiction. But I guess they want to hide the fact that no full-price titles are coming before October...

At that price I think I'll be going for this. Loco Roco's brilliant and as I don't have a PSP I suppose this is the next best thing ^_^

I don't see how it's a screensaver. It downloads, installs and plays just like a regular game... and when I leave the PS3 for longer than the screensaver timeout, the screen just dims like it normally does - this game doesn't start up or anything.
