Locoroco Cocoreccho on PSN
Europe shafted on the whole.
In case you hadn't noticed, yesterday saw the release of LocoRoco Cocoreccho on the PlayStation Network.
Although bullied by other games because of its screensaver heritage, Cocoreccho lets you enjoy rolling 200 different blobs around minimalist but artistic levels. It's an interactive screensaver, you see, one that uses the motion-sensing abilities of Sixaxis.
So, if that sounds like your cup of tea, then simply pop GBP 1.99 in the slot and get going.
Or, of course, you could enjoy the other Playstation Store offerings in the shape of two PSone games: MediEvil and Syphon Filter, both GBP 3.49.
Or. No, wait, there's nothing else apart from a Jericho trailer. Well that's OK, at least until you look over to the US where PS3 owners are enjoying nine trailers, four demos, and LocoRoco Cocoreccho.
Snot fair.

Is the News at Ten a screensaver just because watching it will stop a plasma telly scorching?

Are Sony really stupid enough not to see that simply fact?

And it's not really that difficult to download the demos from the US store.

"that just happens to launch in an odd way."
?
You launch it from the XMB like a game, no? Am I missing an exciting feature?!

Are Live demo's all localised? Unfortunately, that's apparently very important for Sony.

Of course betting on Sony not doing something stupid is a fast way to lose money.
And, Medievil is fixed!
\o/
It should have been working in the first place of course, and there's still no sign of Spyro 2 returning to the store.

Actually I am making an assumption there. I figured it must launch in an odd way, otherwise what exactly makes it a screen saver? If you launch it from the XMB, and then play it as a game... well thats just a game right?
Am I being dense or something? Please someone tell me why this is being called a screensaver, otherwise I'll never sleep (and if I don't sleep, no one sleeps).

Sort it, Sony! :x

Nope, there's no auto-start feature. It behaves just the same as any other downloaded game from PSN.
I'd guess someone decided it would be a good idea to call it an 'interactive screensaver' to excuse the lack of content when compared to many of the more expensive games. Of course the fact it's only £1.99 does that anyway, and does so without creating confusion about what it actually is too. Don't you just love self-defeating ineffectual marketing...

Get yourself a US account, download the demos and trailers from the US Store and stop crying like a little baby.
EDIT: that was @ the writer of the original article BTW.

Surely Sony would still *be* wankers if we all got overseas accounts, it just wouldn't be getting in our way personally?

When it comes to shafting European customer with game releases and download content, particularly the hobbled European virtual console, Nintendo gets the 'Golden Cock Award'.
And both those companies shaft us on price, charging us double what the Yanks get away with paying.
On Sony's UK PSN store, the prices almost reflect the true USD/GBP exchange rate.

Ah well, given that demos "are a total and utter waste of time in that it's usually a) in an unfinished, unoptimised state, b) from a really early point in the game when it's too easy and gives no impression of the depth" we're not missing much over here...
