Live Fallout 3 interview Tuesday 4pm

Pete Hines to answer questions.

Bethesda Softworks' Pete Hines will be live on Eurogamer.net tomorrow afternoon at 4pm GMT to answer your questions about Fallout 3.

As with all our live interviews, you will be able to submit questions through a moderator, and Hines' responses will be posted to the site as soon as they're done. You don't even need to refresh the page.

Fallout 3, which came out in the UK on Friday, has done very well in reviews and later tonight we'll get our first chance to gauge its impact on the charts, so tomorrow will be an interesting time to speak to Hines.

Perhaps we can also get him to drop hints about the upcoming, Xbox 360-exclusive downloadable content, although we doubt it.

"I'm really looking forward to talking to Fallout 3 fans and finding out what questions they have following the game's release in the UK," was what Hines said when we asked for a quote for our silly story. Thanks Pete!

Check out our Fallout 3 review for more on the game, and remember, 4pm GMT tomorrow.

I would like "when are you going to patch the PS3 GOTY Oblivion vampirism bug?" to feature.
  • Yossarian #2 3 years ago

Can I make snide remarks at him?

Like, "when are you going to hire writers?"

"How much did you pay EG for the score?"
  • ThemisB #4 3 years ago

Bloody vampirism. I had to borrow a mate's non-GOTY Oblivion to stop being a bastard vampire, which did the job despite ruining several Shivering Isles quests.

People will ask questions about the PS3 version...but they shan't be answered... :(

That's for PC too, the platform that still has a section on EG if I am correct.

Anyway, I'd love to hear about patches that would fix the illogical and unwanted story advancements (when you just try to explore the world first). And the mod tools of course, there is a lot to fix/expand upon on PC...

If someone could ask him about an ETA for the editor for the PC game that'd be cracking. Not sure if I'm gonna be around to make the live chat

@Hitman_15: "The obvious one is why is the ps3 version so poor why did you release it in the state its in it has even broke some ps3's"

I'm interested to know what information is available on this as my Blu-Ray drive went while playing the game just 45minutes in (after repeated freezes and XMB related stuttering). £200 to replace the units effected...I'm not looking to blame anyone but if the game has some effect on hardware performance, then avoiding using the game would save me another round of wallet-ache - others too.

In view of this, any information on PS3 stability from the Fallout 3 developers, would be greatly appreciated - even acknowledging that the game seems to have had less time spent on the graphics texturing and abilities. It feels as though there was a missing trip on the games production, i.e going to QA to check the minor but very constant XMB issues.

My question: Will there be a patch for the game - console specific - as the PS3 version needs to be more stable with regards to the XMB?

I'm not sure wht all the fuss is about with the PS3 version of Fallout 3. I got it last night and there is the odd glitch but no worse than when I played Oblivion on the 360 when it came out. I can't compare the the 2 versions I no longer have my 360 but I assume it is pretty similar. Good game so far if a little bleak. I may be getting old but it would be nice to be able to tone down/turn off the gore like you could in Gear of War

"How can you justify your wages when you're happy to release a shoddy, bug-ridden, unpolished travesty of a PS3 version?"
"Would you consider yourselves to be lazy developers?"

I wager 2 eurocents on that he will not comment on any PS3 issues.

I'm really starting to enjoy Fallout 3 despite the depressing setting, it's definitely a grower for me.

However, if I have one niggle it's the excessive and sometimes downright ugly screen tearing (360 version) so would it be possible to patch the game like Volition did Saints Row to include a v-sync option so that those of us who prefer to suffer some minor slowdown from time to time can do so? I find the tearing terribly distracting to the point where the illusion of being in a real place is totally shattered. Oblivion didn't tear so it seems odd that Fallout 3 does considering it doesn't look that much better and is two years newer. Thank you! :)

I am having to go out, so sadly won't be here at 1600 hours.

Perhaps somebody could ask whether all the retro-future technology, such as the cars in the garages and strewn around the streets, and the future-boxcar trains on display in the Fallout 3 environment was firstly created so that it was shiny and new, and then trashed before being presented to the player, or whether the artwork was done initially so that the objects were drawn destroyed from the outset?

    If that makes sense?

I'd appreciate it if someone could pop the question, because I'm having to unexpectedly leave the internet for a while.

what was the decision behind ending the game after the story mode, opposed to the free-roam offered in the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion?
