It's gorgeous, the idea of creating whole levels with easy is great, especially if alot of people get into it. Considering there seems to be so much to do, it could have alot of potential.

They must have got actual children to draw some of those textures :)

Looks very nice though.

The big deal about this is not just the level editing thing.

It's how the engine is so strongly physics oriented, and costumization reaches the point of carving different materials with different properties. And all this can be altered within a running game engine.

It's the kind of sandbox environment that both GTA and Crackdown can only dream of.

Unfortunately nothing to do with the Little Big Adventure series. Those were the days.

Smart! Sounds a bit like Pinata, looks a bit like Paper Mario, and seems like it'll play quite differently to anything else that's out there. I don't envy the level designers' job though - imagine with having to come up with hours of varied gameplay for this, while avoiding steep learning-curve spikes; AND keeping the feel of openness while avoiding any aimless bumbling / tediously long sections. Let's hope they're up to it, and they're allowed enough time to get the balance right before it gets released.

I see what you mean, this is truly a sandbox environment, but on the other hand, games like GTA and Crackdown combine the sandbox with a plot that compels the player to follow the narrative. LBP has no such element.

Considering how much time I wasted in GTA: San Andreas and Crackdown just messing around with in-game objects and seeing how far I could push things, and seeing how I still, even now fire up GoldenEye on my N64, stick magnum and paintball mode on and muck about in Archives, garnering a rather impressive (not to mention garishly bright) hat-and-gun collection, this game will steal my soul away for the rest of time!

I mean, if I can clock up hundreds of hours creating my own little sections in fixed-idea games, then imagine what will happen when you give me a game designed from the ground up to provide opportunities for experimentation!

The release of this game is what will make me buy a PS3. Luckily for me, Warhawk will be nice and cheap, MotorStorm 2 will be just around the corner and WipEout HD will be out, too :-D Plus Resistance 2 will probably start to get more of my interest by then as well.

/a curious fan of some PlayStation (sorry, PLAYSTATION) franchises - detests Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy and Gran Turismo, adores WipEout, G-Police, Twisted Metal and Destruction Derby.

Love the first shot of the little guys on the skateboard! At least this game seems to going away from the usual stuff that i have to endure. Lovely use of colours and textures and almost has that feel of the vauxhall corse characters, you know the one with "C'MON!" Looking forward to this just for the simple reason that it seems to non-linear and fun,

But what is the point of this game? What do you do in it once you make stuff? Is it a glorified 3d program cum game? Whats the goals and aims.. im not getting it.

From what I see, looks like you get 50 platform levels as standard, I think there is some sort of co-op element too. I don't think there is a driving plot as such (i.e. rescue pink princess from green dragonturtle), more like just an excuse to have platform-y fun.

Lots of focus on the development and sharing aspect because its the USP of the entire thing. Effectively infinite replay value there, plus just look at the game modding factions you get on PC, so much joy to be had with user created content... then the aims set out for you are only limited by the imagination of the creator.

I guess you don't have to be one yourself to get joy out of it, just plunder the fruits of others labours.

So hoping for a PC port one day. I don't expect a 360 or Wii port as they are direct compeititon, but this looks like at least the level editing would benefit greatly from a PC port if PC and PS3 users were linked.

Yeah... LBA was the bomb back then :)

Though can someone tell me why you find this game so intresting? it's cute looking and different but you really think its something worth spending time on that much to buy? It's just weird and for ppl that want to experiment i guess mostly or have a lot of time to waste. I'd try it but not really play.

Dude wtf is wrong with you? Did you even read my post? Get your fucking head straight and get a fucking life already. Stop bitching like a crybaby cause i just said my opinion. At least I'm not the one roaming the xbox reviews talking out of my ass. I said nothing bad about the game. I actually checked the article cause the game is diferent and is intresting enough to make me check it not like fucktards like you to just tell ppl off. I just said that i wouldnt really pay for it ( most likelly ) since i believe its not a kind of game I would really spend so much time on. Fucking Sony psycho dude. "omfg he talked about a PS3 game"

EDIT: Neither did I say "oh I rather play Viva pinata" like most of fanboys do in this fucking site. So learn to be smart enough to seperate when someone is seriously saying his opinion than talking out of his ass or cause he is some kind of jealous kid like most are around here.

FFS!

"It's the kind of sandbox environment that both GTA and Crackdown can only dream of. "

apples to oranges.. those games are massive 3d worlds.. expansive in scope and size.

The scope of this is in the ability to create so much within a more limited 2.5 D world.

It's brilliant but can't be directly compared to story driven 3d worlds like those.
