A great score, although considering Eurogamer's criminal handling of MGS4, I wouldn't be surprised if this should actually be a ten. MGS4 is without a doubt the finest game so far of this generation. Xbox owners will disagree but that's because the game will never come out for their system.

However, ironically, I was expecting an 8/10 or even a 7/10 from the text of the review itself. You seemed to sum up the various parts as "not actually that great" (platforming, mp, creating).

Is it a case of a game that's better than the sum of its parts? Or is it because it's so unique that it deserves a high score for that alone?

Good review. I mean, if you read the text, you can't argue with the fact that the game is GREAT (but doesn't deserve a 10).

Playing this game gave me a headache because of all the technical issues, the massive tearing and low resolution really hurt my eyes. The fact it controls like pancakes sizzling in butter, melting slowly over their brown-bubbled mass, ever thickening to a perfect size... then you add that sweet, sweet, genuine Canadian maple syrup.

Just saying. Plus, it's like 640x480 res upscaled to 1080p? That sucks. I'm going to wait for it to come out on Xbox - it's only a matter of time, because it'll flop so hard it'll make Sarah Palin look like a genuine Malaysian.

I've been looking forward to Fable 2 for years, so that will take priority over LBP since the dates are so close (Same release date I think?) but after playing the Beta, I really enjoyed it, so I will certainly pick this up eventually!

Nice review but I disagree with the gripes on the last page. Making great levels really isn't hard at all. Slightly bemused by that comment. It only takes a few hours of playing around to become very adept at adding to what you have and you find everything whizzing along. The z-axis can be fairly fussy, so maybe some sort of option when creating a level to set the stage to be one, two or three layers deep would be good. To be honest though, any criticism aimed at it being too hard for casual players to make a level is null and void. They've tried to make designing levels as user friendly as possible but ultimately the only thing impeding good level design is the user's imagination.

And complaining that there are things available to the user that they wouldn't think to use is like complaining that there are too many colours to draw pictures with.

I heard that 360 is getting a port of this game. only it will have guns and blood and online multiplayer. Everything on xbox is better. PS3 gets crap version of everything.

The 360 version of this will get a 10 and I will laugh.

I am a little worried that they said creating levels was too hard. That is the main reason I wanted the game.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 in my opinion Halo 3 should have got an 8/10

I would have given the game an 11/10 ... a 9/10 for being an awesome, physics based platformer with a lovely art style and great online and offline 4 player mutliplayer, then a 10/10 for the user created levels which are already so incredible in the short beta, and then an 11/10 for the create aspect being so awesome all by itself that I'm totally hooked on it

I must be a genius though, for being able to use it at all, apparently ... and this is obviously the part where I (and I'm sure many others) am going to disagree with even the very respectible game that LBP is ... for if LBP can't get a 10, then no game deserves a 10. In my humble opinion, anyway.

Story mode is "20-odd" levels? I thought it was 50-plus?

I love playing game, I truly do, but I'm embarrased to be associated in any way with some of you. Why do gamers, in general, feel the urge to be so hostile to others and start petty arguments. 9 out of 10 is a fantastic score and the review itself, you know the writing and stuff, was also extremely positive and pointed out problems that are apparent. Eurogamer aren't biased towards Microsoft, Nintendo or Sony. They review games and that's the end of it. Jesus, Gears of War got an 8. If you like the look of this game then buy it and hopefully enjoy it. If you enjoy it then that's all that matters, not whether it's better than MGS4, Halo3 or any other game.

9/10 seems very fair from what I played at Leipzig (there were like 10 lives per checkpoint there though, wtf?).

The biggest crux of this game is the 3 layers of depth, it doesn't bother you a huge ammount in the main game, but in the creation mode, I found it a huge pain. Keeping it simple, I think, would've been the way to go.
