LittleBigPlanet beta already under way News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

2 July, 2008

Media Molecule co-founder David Smith has told Eurogamer that LittleBigPlanet is already being beta tested and he hopes to include you lot soon.

"A beta trial is really important for us to make a game like this. We already have trials in progress! It should gradually grow to include more people," Smith said.

"The beta is starting off in a very controlled way, but will hopefully open up to lots more people. We aren't at a stage yet to know what direction we need to go with this. Personally, I'd love the beta to have as many people as possible, but we need to wait and see."

LittleBigPlanet is a charming toolset that will let you design your own games within a game, essentially. It will ship with plenty of pre-made adventures for you and up to three chums.

Head over to our live text interview with David Smith to see what else he is saying right now, live, as we write, live.

LittleBigPlanet is due out in October exclusively on PlayStation 3.

I'm pretty sick of hearing about this game already. Sony blew the marketing as usual. They released everything about the game 6 months ago...nothing left to say. Pre-mature ejaculation much sony?

I dont doubt this is probably going to be quite a good concept, I'm just not convinced its going to have the mass market appeal its gonna need to be a huge success. Yeah, the forum reading geekboys know all about it, but do the causal gamers? And if they do - do they care?
