Link teams with Zelda in Spirit Tracks News

DS News by Tom Bramwell

6 November, 2009

Nintendo has revealed that the player-controlled phantoms in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks are actually occupied by the spirit of Princess Zelda.

As detailed in our Spirit Tracks hands-on, the game allows you to direct one of the armour-clad phantoms, which should be familiar to players of The Phantom Hourglass, in order to solve puzzles and smash enemies in the face. That's Zelda, apparently.

What's more, Zelda will also ride with Link on his upgradeable train, providing tips to "find new areas, storylines and items", according to Nintendo.

We may even get to learn more about Zelda in the process, such as why she doesn't get a panic room installed in her castle or something.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks is due out for DS in Europe on 11th December.

Why they released this plotline, I don't know! I mean, that would be a nice thing to find out in the game.

Anyhoo... Enough grumping :o/

This game is going to be ace, even though I'm not that hyped about it. But it's a new Zelda game and they've been consistently very good.

Though I have consistently enjoyed the Zelda games I can't find myself excited about this :/ Let's hope I'll be pleasantly suprised in December, I've got nothing to play on my DS.

Having just watched the GT trailer, I think being able to have Zelda work along side you would have been just as good on its own, with the whole train thing.

Finally! A "Legend of Zelda" where Zelda is actually a protagonist and not a hapless victim, bystander or upgrade vendor.

My daughter is getting VERY excited about this, she loves Phantom Hourglass and regularly replays it. I expect on Christmas day she'll be "chuffed" to bits to find this under the tree :-)

Personally I hope it doesn't have anything like the Temple of the Ocean King. For me PH was brilliant apart from the fun-choking dungeon repetition with a time limit.
