Leipzig keynote all about Demigod

Gas Powered to detail PC fantasy RTS.

Gas Powered Games boss Chris Taylor will be talking about Demigod ahead of the Leipzig Games Convention next month.

Taylor will detail the game in a keynote address at the Games Convention Developers Conference, which precedes the consumer show.

This is the PC-exclusive real-time strategy game where you control a large force as a hero unit, a bit like Supreme Commander, only less complicated, and with fantasy beasts instead of robots.

Demigod has a single-player campaign, but only really as a training ground for online co-operative or head-to-head battles.

Gas Powered Games was "fairly certain" in March that Demigod would be out this year, and hopefully we can carve some time out of our schedule to play the game at Leipzig.

Until then, pop over to Eurogamer TV for a brand new and very impressive Demigod trailer.

Well I'm reasonably excited about this. The trailer is utterly astonishing for in-game footage - luckily I'll be buying a new PC round about the time this comes out...

Mind you, I'd still like a bit more info on what the single player is going to be like. I'm miserable and misanthropic enough to not want to play multiplayer any more.

Frogboy from Stardock is a SP nut and has promised it will be good. But the way everyone keeps talking about it it just sounds like a bunch of skirmish maps which is disappointing to say the least.

    Can just hope.

its based on Dota so multiplayer gameplay will be its focus

I know what you mean, it does sound a bit like it might have a UT-style SP format, which is very disappointing.

This is definitely a game for RTS fans! It is launched as the ultimate multiplayer experience, and should be (re)viewed as such. If you want single player experience, go play Shadowgrounds: Survivor, or something similar (Space Siege was a definite let-down and horrible game).
I'm really looking forward to this! The engine is the Supreme Commander engine, which is tweaked to double the performance, but I guess you'd still need a beefy box to play it! Still, if the gameplay and teamplay is anywhere near Supreme Commanders, I'm in for a ride!
There's a very nice 4-page preview-article done by Poita of Supreme Commander fame over at gamereplays.org: http://ww w.gamereplays.org/demigod/porta...
