LEGO Rock Band dated for November News

PlayStation 2 DS Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 Wii
News by Robert Purchese

15 October, 2009

Warner Bros. has confirmed reports that LEGO Rock Band will be released on 27th November in the UK.

The music game will be available on DS, PS2, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360.

Traveller's Tales, developer of LEGO Star Wars et al, has smeared the Rock Band licence with the usual charm and humour, although the tracklist is shorter than normal at 45 songs.

They're more mush than mosh, too, and include the likes of KT Tunstall and Jackson 5, but you can also expect to find some gems in there.

KT isnt that bad and Suddenly i see could be a blast to play... Overall the song list is impressive and quite surprising to be honest for a lego branded game

I often take Rock Band launch days off work and spend the whole day jamming with the band. Don't think I want to do that for a Lego game.

Well the Lego-ness does nothing for me, but I've pre-ordered it on the strength of the tracklist. I suspect I'll play through it to whore the achievements, redeem the code to get the songs into RB2 and sell the disc.

I'm tempted to get a rock band/GH game but can't bring myself to it as I already play (or at least try to play) the guitar.
Trying to convince my wife that I can leave the plastic drum set in the lounge would be a feat in itself. Esp as the baby has her toys everywhere.
If for whatever reason I do get committee clearence, am I right in that I shoul get RB drums/Guitars over GH?

@Johnsters

I use Rock band drums because they are compatible with guitar hero games. I am unsure if you can use GH drums on RB and i believe the Wii versions only work with their respective software.

I'm interested to read that the game has enough variations in the gameplay to distinguish itself from the existing Rock Band games.

Successfully completing tracks will earn you Lego studs to customise your character and "den". Some one-off performances require you to play loud enough to destroy buildings.

Bit of variety can only be a good thing!

I expect this to be one of the most traded in games over Christmas. There'll be lots of people just buying it for the export code, if that's how it works.

If you have money to burn, in an ideal world you want the Beatles: RB drums, the GHWT guitar and the Lips mics. If you just want to buy a set, the Beatles Rock Band one is the best, but it's expensive.

The best setup on 360 is standalone wireless mic, GH3 wireless Les Paul's x 2 and RB2/RB:TB drums.

+1 what Zomoniac said. Buy on day 1, snarf some quick achievements, copy songs and trade in before the value goes down too much.

Game/Gamestation/HMV/Blockies are going to be left with loads of second hand copies with no download code. Doh.

Is it me or is it less lego and more Rock Band, I looked at the track list and thought... many kids wont have a clue to what these songs are... I think they are going for adults more so than kids, which i think is a missed trick.

Also a lego guitar would have been excellent. +1 for that suggestion :)

So, to summarise, this is Rock Band Jr? No more, no less?

@AgentBalti: Actually it's more than Rock Band Jr because the framework for playing the songs is different since it has challenges e.g. destroying a building with the music.
