Hollywood film-maker Legendary Pictures has decided to internally develop videogames based on both original and existing properties, starting with a tie-in for supernatural thriller The Lost Patrol in 2010.

Kathy Vrabeck, former EA and Activision bigwig, will run the show, according to Variety. There are no specific details yet, but she's keen to churn out content for mobiles and casual internet portals, apparently.

Legendary Pictures is currently developing big-screen adaptations of World of Warcraft and Gears of War. There's not much known about the former, but Gears of War screenwriter Chris Morgan recently told everybody how good The Rock would be as lead character Marcus Fenix.

Len Wiseman (Die Hard 4.0) will direct the Gears of War film, while Uwe Boll came very close to directing World of Warcraft - well, he asked and Blizzard said no.

Hmm Legendary pictures are pretty good. Shame they've gone and screwed it all up by taking game > movie adaptations and now games.

*shakes head* they never learn developers always trying to make games based on films.

I hope they take the Chronicles of Riddick approach ie. not adaptations of the films but rather just basing the games on characters and the world it's set

Gears of War movie, oh dear me, sounds as bad as doing a World of Warcraft movie... when will they ever learn, game adaptions dont work!!!!

P.s I dont think i should mention this but Doom was actually alright...lol

Yeh i know it thought it was good to didn't mind the resi movies either but in that case they has a lot of zombie movies to get inspiration from... i really don't know how these will work.
