Legendary 360 for late October

But PS3, PC versions lost in November.

Atari has stamped a 31st October date on the Xbox 360 version of Legendary.

The PS3 and PC versions have been pushed back to November, however, although the publisher was unavailable to tell us why or when exactly they would arrive.

Legendary is the man versus myth shooter by Spark Unlimited. This is the same developer - albeit a different team - responsible for the dreadful Turning Point: Fall of Liberty.

The idea is that Pandora's Box has been found and opened, subsequently unleashing griffin, werewolves, and all sorts of nasties in modern day New York and London.

We had a go recently and were relatively pleased with what we saw: a no-frills, honest-John shooter where a man with guns fights beasts with teeth.

Head over to our Legendary preview to find out more. That's just what it's called, we're not big-headed or anything.

I DL'd some making of videos off US PSN and this did look rather boring.

I am going to try this at E2 next week, although I suspect it will be a little too generic to impress. I like the idea though; makes a reasonable change from generic [space] marines.

Legendary sounds awfully generic but I'm open-minded so I'll wait and see how it turns out.

It turns out mediocre from the reviews ive read so far.

Fable 2, Dead Space, Gears 2, Mirrors Edge, Left4Dead, Fallout 3, MK VS DC, POP is more than enough for me. Those will probably last me thru Jan/Feb too.

Nice idea, eh, that's about it really.

Worst time ever to release it as well.

It's golden, I've heard, and anyone deemed unworthy of owning one is destroyed by a curse.

This or Fallout 3, hard choice...

"It's golden, I've heard, and anyone deemed unworthy of owning one is destroyed by a curse."

I heard that if it gets the RRoD, the owner overheats and dies.
  • Eraysor #12 3 years ago

If it's anywhere near Turning Point from last year, it'll be a huge pile of fail.

"I heard that if it gets the RRoD, the owner overheats and dies."

I've heard that at full moon it gets four red lights and then prowls the streets near internet cafés looking for fresh meat.

"I've heard that at full moon it gets four red lights and then prowls the streets near internet cafés looking for fresh meat."

I've heard that it won't upgrade to the NXE unless a small animal is sacrificed in its drive tray.

Also, I've heard that nobody really cares that the PS3 and PC versions of Legendary have been delayed.
  • TruWari3r #15 3 years ago

I've heard that the Stig uses the legendary 360 as it's cold cold heart.
  • creepylizard #16 3 years ago

it can only be killed by stabbing it through the hard drive with a wii remote. I know this for a fact. a fact I say.
  • UncleLou #17 3 years ago

Christ, it looks mildly interesting, but surely that's not the kind of game you release now?

    Publishers are morons.
  • creepylizard #18 3 years ago

they don't have much choice. if they don't release it now everyone would have spent their money on all the obvious choices...
maybe they'd have been better releasing it a month ago...
  • UncleLou #19 3 years ago

    they don't have much choice

They have at least 9 months at their disposal better than October or November. For exactly the reason you mentioned. You see enough people trying to choose between games like Fable, Far Cry, Fallout and LBP because they can't or won't afford all of them now, so who exactly do they think will buy this? Not to mention that it won't be the first in line to get press coverage at this busy time of the year.

Condemned to move quickly to the bargain bins.

    edit:
    Can't type.

My local rental place does not have turning point. I played the demo and it was bad but for some strange reason I enjoyed it, I have been looking to pick it up cheap but no luck so far. You would think a bad game would lose value quickly. Oh well.
  • magicpocket #21 3 years ago

Really enjoyed what i played of Legendary. i'd liken it to a Michael Bay movie. You know you're not going to get a deep and twisting plot, but what you will get is massively entertaining if that's your cuppa tea.
