Hadn't heard of this before. Looking forward to it as co-operative games are far too rare imo!

its such a shame about that 4...

funny thing is it'll probably put off a few people from buying it! (a few.. not lots)

Love the sound of this, and Valve obviously know what they're talking about, but I really can't imagine that this is going to come anywhere near the number of players that Counter-Strike has.

Seriously, it surely won't happen. They are just building the hype I guess.

This game might get me back into PC gaming. The only thing standing in the way is the requirement sheet. Will my laptop be strong enough?

Oh be still my beating heart!

I am in a desperate search for good co-op games to play, but this doesn't sound too enticing. Mainly because of their involvement with Valve and their game designing philosophy (basically "it's unnecessary to give the player choices if the path you lead them down is interesting enough").

I'm actually looking forward to this, it's an obvious idea that should do well.

Seriously, I don't think can even dream about replacing Counter-Strike. Mainly because the theme is nowhere near as universal as the theme in Counter-Strike.

I'm more worried about the fact Valve and turtle rock have implemented poor ideas and maps in Counter strike over the last year or two.

This might still be a laugh though.

I actually ignored the game until now because of that stupid 4 in the name. Yes, there's four of them, but it still makes the whole thing look silly.

The game, however, sounds awesome :D

can't wait for pickup groups containing mainly eurotrash kids trying to ruin the party in the first 5mins before swearing and leaving the group.

The CS tards will snub it, simply because it is co-op. If they can't get the highest score, and 'pwn all the n00bs' then they simply won't play it. I think they're crazy if the expect this to be the next CS.

Me on the other hand? looking forward to it :)

'Counter-Strike was a harder sell. It had been a free mod for a year, we were not going to stop that happening, and that made retailers and our publisher at the time outrageously nervous and scared of doing it.'

It's telling that Doug interpreted the question as retail dollars rather than appeal.

Sounds really fun and looking forward to it. Although no potential to reach counter strike numbers with 4 players.

Speaking of 4 player multiplayer coop game where you shoot zombies - anyone played doom lately?

They want to beat CS? Great, I definitely know what not to buy then. :)

The FP and S stuff is hilarious also.

To be fair though, it's not just brainless text speak. It's reffering to the number of people per co-op team of zombie killers. It's a four player co-op game.

Indeed -- from the way he talks, you'd think he's Valve's marketing director or something.
