Left 4 Dead gets Euro date

Valve zombie shooter in November.

EA has told Eurogamer that Left 4 Dead will be out in Europe on 7th November.

Both PC and Xbox 360 versions should be out on the same day, and will follow the E3-announced US date by three days.

Developed by Turtle Rock, Left 4 Dead is an online co-operative zombie shooter for you and your friends. You can even control the zombies as you try to eat the quartet of human survivors.

Interestingly, 7th November is the same day Gears of War 2 will be released in Europe. Gulp.

    this looks great, would much rather have it than gears2. although is it online co-op only? no single player or split screen local co-op? is a dealbreaker for me...

    Don't know whether to feel pleased or saddened at that news.

    Good: All the bigoted morons will be busy playing that overrated piece of turd GoW 2 so I won’t have to listen to them on Xbox Live.
    Bad: That’s leaves very few people to play Left 4 Dead against because as we know 95% of Xbox owners are bigoted morons.

    I can see painful experiences of trying to find a game for half an hour like TF2 again. Oh lord why do you punish me for not being a PC gamer!

    You can definitely play it 2 player split screen, and I'd be utterly astonished if you couldn't play it offline.

    Oh yeah, I've been waiting for this one since I first heard about it. Especially if we can get this set up on our clan server, and I can lay in wait, then spring out and snack upon my colleagues sweet, sweet brains!

    I imagine this will sell significantly more on PC anyway so I doubt it's concerning them too much, still a nasty conflict though!

    There were hints of sarcasm but a huge grounding in truth.

    If there was one thing that put me off Gears of War it was the racist whooping arseholes that populated online matches.

    Who am I kidding, there was lots of things that put me off Gears of War! A cover system that rarely worked (Cover and run should be on seperate buttons!) Supposedly brilliant HD graphics presented in a wide range of greys and browns, and for one level gold was added! A plot and cast of characters so moronic it makes Starship Troopers look like Citizen Kane! And although it's unfair to judge the game on the people who make it, the fact that Cliffy B is a grade A self-satisfied shithorn makes me hate it even more.

    But I digress, my main point is that I've had my experience of online games of GTA4, Halo and COD4 tainted by idiots (many of them clearly too young to own the game) spouting racist, sexist and homophobic drivel numerous times. Conversely I never had that problem with TF2 which seemed to attract a better class of human being and I hope this carries on to Left 4 Dead.

    After much humming and hahing I subscribed to Live. I played my first (and only) game of Halo 3 (in the baby zone you know a small amount of other players, you have to graduate or some crap to play with the big boys) and the first thing I heard was some moronic kid spouting racist, sexist and homophobic drivel at me. It was kinda off-putting and not in a "man, this guy has me rattled", more like when a particularly annoying fly gets into your bedroom, a racist, sexist, homophobic fly. It'd been a while since I'd played Halo3 and it says something that I found the mute all option before figuring out how to melee again, there may be a way to mute individuals but I couldn't find it easily and wasn't wasting time looking.

    Haven't been arsed playing since but then again, I'd rather play TF2 with the people I've known since CS and DOD for the last eight or nine years or so on a regular server than Halo 3 with some random people (including, I have no doubt, only a relatively small percentage of assholes).

    And people wonder why Nintendo hasn't brought out voice comms.

    Anyhoo, Left 4 Dead looks awesome. Can't wait to group up with my buddies and kill teh zombehs! Sorry, I mean "Grp w m8s n kil teh Zmbs" or whatever.

    Since i will get both no matter what, its not good news that they come out the same day. It will be hard too choose wich one to play first.

    I've never sorted out live for my 360 and from these disparaging comments I'm not sure I ever will. There's tons of racist little morons playing PC games online but mostly it's okay in CS and TF2 if you just go on a clan UK server. I'm getting the impression you can't escape these sort of idiots on Live. Either way, I'm getting L4D fpr my laptop even though it won't look half as nice because then I can use a mouse to aim properly and escape the 15 year olds.

    I actually agree with the LIVE haters. Get a group of mates together and all's well, but randoms can be complete cunts. And I don't use that word lightly. My default settings are on Mute all except people on friends list.

    As to this, been looking forward to it for a while! Hurrah!

    I sometimes wonder if I'm on a different XBox Live than everyone else. Sure, there are some arseholes on it, but the majority is people who don't talk at all.

    The only fuckers that have me reaching for the mute button on a regular basis are the people who think it's awesome to play music down the mic, or to constantly talk to other people in their living room without muting.

    Perhaps you just play at the right times. I'm sure when kids are just getting in from school in the US is the very worst time to play.

    edit: Also, forgive my lack of Live knowledge, but can't you just choose to play on UK servers only? Surely the lag would be loads better on those servers anyway?

    Actually mbar, most people use voicechat on xboxlive. I think your getting mixed up with psn. On the only game I have for my ps3 "warhawk", all I could find were a couple of 10 year olds. I also found a german player, but unfortunately my german is 'nt great although I know the words "nien" and "achtung". We did'nt exactly have a pleasent conversation over that.

    Yes I was baffled by that response too.

    In reply to Skillian, as far as I'm aware most Xbox live games don't allow you to limit to particular countries. It's a shame because I found the more pleasant times to play are when the majority of America is asleep or at school.

    Also in reply to "why not just mute them" comments, yes fair enough that is the obvious solution, but while some games (Halo) have a very good interface to instantly mute people other games don't (GTA4 particularly irritates me, especially the online races which idiots seem to flock to). It's also something that shouldn't need to be done, particularly in games where communication is integral to the experience, as I imagine it will be in Left 4 Dead.

    Well considering my social circle doesn't resemble the male cast of The Big Bang Theory the extent of my friends multiplayer habits are getting pissed playing Rock Band. I would imagine this is the case for a majority of people as well (hence why online games have matchmaking settings) so playing with randoms is going to be a common occurence.
