Left 4 Dead DLC announcement soon

Coming to PC and 360 simultaneously.

Talking to Kotaku in a video podcast, Valve's Chet Faliszek as good as confirmed that downloadable content is in the works for Left 4 Dead.

Faliszek told viewers to expect an announcement soon. "We have the DLC coming, we're going to do the 360 at the same time as the PC," he said.

Faliszek didn't say what form the DLC would take, but said that Valve was focused on "more content you can play".

You won't have long to find out - the DLC was due to be revealed before Christmas and has only been held up by Valve staff taking some time off. "If it wasn't the holidays and people weren't taking all these vacations here at Valve, you'd have seen that announcement already," Faliszek said.

"On the PC side we have the SDK coming out," he added, so the mod community can look forward to making its own Left 4 Dead content soon.

More when we get it.

Making the other two campaign maps playable in Versus mode would be great.
  • systems #2 3 years ago

@Eraysor - that's probably what the first one will be (and it would be odd if it wasn't free).

As for the premium DLC will it be new items (unlikely), new campaigns (likely) or new extra areas in existing campaigns (unlikely).

I do love announcements of announcements.
  • syphaa #4 3 years ago

Hopefully they will fill us in with details very soon!
I have cained the existing campaigns and I would LOVE a new campaign or two.

Not overly fussed about the versus mode getting the other two maps, but it would be a bonus for sure.

    BRAINS!

I have owned and played every valve game on the PC and i don't really like what this article is saying. Firstly i hope they are not making PC gamers to all wait for microsoft to verify it for the 360 and secondly i don't like them using the term DLC as that usually involves a charge for what you used to expect for free. Hopefully Valve wont go down that route

It was said on Shacknews that Death Toll and Dead air will indeed be playable in Versus. If so, I wonder what changes will be made to the maps to make them Versus-ready. I remember Valve complaining that those two campaigns lack balance and generally wouldn't be fun to play in Versus mode.

I am new to L4D on the 360 and would love to get stuck in...

Anyone fancy helping a newbe out..?
  • roz123 #8 3 years ago

Probably ramps and things where there were jumps, so its less easy to get knocked off roofs and stuck after drop downs. I dunno but i am glad they left them out if they were really unbalanced as the other 2 levels are spot on. I just hope they get rid of that exploit where you smash the door

    S.J.Roger

    1. Pick up shotgun
    2. Load shotgun
    3. Find zombie
    4. Melee zombie
    5. Blow zombies head off
    6. Repeat steps 2-5 forever
    7. Die happy....

    Hows that?
  • Buztafen #10 3 years ago

There loads of other exploits that need ironing out....

    1. the trolley thing that the infected can move infront of the lift doors.
    2. the smoker cheat where you drag a survivor of the roof just as they climb up the ladder for instant death, even though the fall is easily survivable.
    3. smashing a car at survivors when your a tank which instantly knocks you down.

Strangely these are all on No Mercy...

This being said i cant wait for this new content

    L4D was the GOTY 08.

    /is enjoying number points today.

    >3. smashing a car at survivors when your a tank which instantly knocks you down.

    I wouldn't say that's an exploit...
  • Artemus #13 3 years ago

Oh yes. Can't wait for more (how about a new infected?) I picked it up around New Year and haven't been able to put it down since.

Yeah that would be ridiculous if they patched it so hitting a survivor with a car just took some health off. The whole fun of Versus is pulling off something spectacular like that or a perfectly coordinated attack taking all the survivors out at once.
  • Beats12 #15 3 years ago

I'd be hoping for making Dead Air and Death Toll playable in Versus and some general tweaks in Versus (such as making the shove less effective). I'm not sure if we need new special zombies, but it would be interesting to see what they would come up with. I suppose we'll have to wait till later in the year till we see new campaigns.

Oh, I'm also hoping that Valve will make the new content free (at least for PC players)... :D
  • quantumsheep #16 3 years ago

SDK - someone turn the infected into Giger's Aliens please! :)
  • Buztafen #17 3 years ago

At certain times the whole chuck a car at em tank strategy can be a little shitty though, like.....atleast let me get out of the sewers before throwing it at me....
  • TheBoyChris #18 3 years ago

I think we're going to see a lot of people's local towns/areas being converted into L4D campaigns. That would be awesome :D
  • Feanor #19 3 years ago

Free on PC and US $10 on the 360?
  • stephen #20 3 years ago

The car-chucking is definitely not an exploit, and you can do a similar move with a fallen tree trunk in the Blood Harvest finale. The tank is rubbish in an open area like that because the survivors can just outrun him, so being able to bat cars and stuff at them restores balance :)

    this is great news!
it cant come soon enough! i also hope they sort out the cheating problems on no mercy.
    GOTY by a long shot!
