@El-Dev

If i remember correctly, the original did get reduced to a cheat price (shop to net had it really cheap for the pc), then they re-released it (kinda) as "Game of the year edition".

@SpaceMidget75

Theres a mod for the pc that allows more than 4 survivor players.. looks quite fun, havent tried it myself.

Would be good if the 8 characters met in the last campaign of Left 4 Dead 2 and had to hold an area off for a mega show down against the infected. Hmm... the possibilities...

Whine whine whine. I hate valve and I hate L4D so all future L4D games should be free DLC. All COD games are the same too with different GFX - ripoff. Modern Warfare is just like COD4 ripoff. Mass Effect 2 should be free too 'cos it's the same story dragged out a bit longer - what a rip off.. I played Fallout 3 once but didn't like it, so it should be free DLC whine whine whine. Games should be given away for free.

I wonder how many of the people who resent paying 'too much' for games are also pirates, happily killing the industry which entertains them? Here's a tip for those who don't like L4D - don't buy L4D2. Sorted.

since my xbox died, & died again, & again.. ive stuck with the ps3. tf2 on the ps3 is pretty decent, fun with little lag & always people online. if left for dead or left for dead 2 comes out for the ps3 then id pick it up & so would a lot of other people, i dont understand why valve arnt intrested in the ps3, the best answer ive gotten is they just dont like it or they cant be bothered, but this doesnt really make sense, the hl2 engine works fine on the ps3 & the demand is there so why no left for dead 2? would have made a much better question than most eurogamer could think to ask in the interview..

Bremenacht, I, and many others have actually explained and justified why we're disappointed. I don't think I've actually read anyone suggest a game should be free. If you want to put across your side of the argument, do so, but suggesting all anyone does is whine if they're not happy is a pathetically dumb statement. So, if you do have have something geniune to add to the argument, please, do explain exactly why Left4Dead is such a bargain. I'd love to hear you explain how the game, at just a few hours, isn't too short. Or that Valve were right to promise extra content, only to turn round less than a year later explaining the extra content was indeed a whole new game, at full price!

all Bemenacht did was tell the truth, and he has a minus five rating for his post, which made good and valid points?

What the fuck is wrong with some retards who read these things?

Jenson- if you brought a game based on content that wasn't on the disc, that's YOUR fault. Not Valve's....promised or not, you should NEVER buy a game based on what isn't on the disc. That's naive and slightly laughable. And Valve have delivered some extra content, maybe not what you would have wanted, but extra content all the same.

I have played left for dead for longer than most games, despite a ''lack of content''. Know why that is? Oh right- great gameplay. Remember that concept? Versus mode alone has had me sink months of my life into it- that's without the campaign modes, online co-op and survival mode (which was free, by the way).

It's just ironic like you people bitch at Valve when they brought Gamers the Orange Box- the best deal in videogames, ever.

Oh and in honor of how much crying some are doing, I suggest Valve change the name of the witch to the ''boycotter'' :D

Looks like a very worthwhile sequel to what I thought was a ground-breaking game. What's not to like?

I do feel sorry for Valve, in the light of the criticism they are getting from some of their consumers. The irony of people complaining about the speed of this sequel, having whinged about the slowness of other releases, is simply inconsistent. And Valve has probably given out more free content out on PC than any other game developer over the last 10 years. And it sounds like they are committed to continuing that approach.

"The biggest issue with this game, and why the people who are upset are, is the price"

No it isn't. The reason some people are upset is quite simply because being upset is what they do best. If its not the release date its the price, if its not the price its the setting, if its not the setting its the box art.

And don't think I don't get the irony of my post complaining about people complaining.

Oh christ, I think I am agreeing with CountFapula. Its the End of Days.

@kangarootoo

You and Count Fapula alone have made more posts complaining about the complainers than there are people complaining about L4D2 in this entire comments thread.

A bit overkill I think.

I dont see what the 'sequel sulkers' have to moan about.EA do it all the time. It depends if you like the game , some people will play it for an hour and some people will still be playing it a year from now regardless of a Left4Dead 2 3 or 4 coming out, if you only get an hour or 2 out of a game you'll be miffed at the cost per hour ,on the other hand if you get a year or more from a game its almost free of charge per hour of playtime . anyway,nobody has to buy the game if they dont want to .
PS. I dont really like Left4Dead that much . it was intresting but I don't think it was that good.
also . as this is a forum , people are allowed to bitch ,moan and argue as much as they want , if you have a different viewpoint thats OK just dont expect your opinion to be everybody's favorite .

Exactly, some people think this was game of the year, some think it was a very short excuse for a game with no story and very little content. I dont think either side is wrong, its their opinion.

Personally, I think the game has a great premise, but if Valve were doing this as their other developments it would be much bugger in scope and be more of a zombie game that many more people would want to play, but on the negative side would take 4 years to make. So I guess either side cannot win :)

If you like it you will buy it, if you think its not value for money, then you wont... I dont see the problem in that, for me I dont think there is much value in paying full price for L4D2, but thats me, others will disagree. Lets just agree to disagree :D

CountFapula, nice argument, but I didn't buy the game initially. I was always interested in it for co-op, but only bought it two months ago. I never pay any attention to DLC. As I've stated previous, my gripe is that it's so small, and that should be reflected in the cost. I would argue the same if Modern Warfare 2 was only a couple of hours long, or Bioshock deleted all story and made that game last just a couple of hours... or any game for that matter. I don't actually listen to, or care what developers promise. They're business men that will say anything for what may result in extra profit. For me, what's supplied in the box (so to speak) is what matters. Do you not find it strange that the original is going to still be 'supported'? Since when do developers continue to supple extra content to a game when a sequel arrives? I think this is a direct result of the complaints.

Saying that a multi-player game is 'too short' shows how ignorant your opinion of the game is. Are you not aware that is was designed purely for multi-player? Versus as well as co-op? Playing it SP is only good for practice and learning levels. Calling a MP game 'too short'... :/

If you prefer single-player campaign type games, then you shouldn't have bought L4D, and you shouldn't consider buying L4D2.

I just want to point out that L4D didn't have Versus mode for two of the campaigns for quite a while. That's one thing that one felt should have been available at release. I guess there was some excuse for not having it in at release - or, if you go on the same page as some, Valve did it intentionally so they could release a content patch so people could feel like there was a patch that actually added something.
And then they have added the survival mode. Which was a tad buggy when it first came out. You couldn't for example choose to play survival mode, quit it and then play a campaign. It would result in a counter that wasn't active and the absence of all zombies.
