LBP costumes lead PSN update News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

11 December, 2008

Sony has restocked the PlayStation Store cupboards to include a free Santa outfit for LittleBigPlanet. Ho ho ho.

The same game also hails the arrival of four Street Fighter-themed costumes, featuring togs worn by Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile and Zangief. These are GBP 1.59 a pop, or all four for GBP 4.79.

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords - Revenge of the Plague Lord is up for grabs at GBP 15.99. And full games NBA Live '09 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour '09 can be downloaded for GBP 29.99 and GBP 31.99, respectively.

Brain Challenge (GBP 7.99) and Jet Rider 2 (GBP 3.99) are the premium PSP games on offer, but there's also what appears to be the entire Football Manager Handheld 2009 game there - for free! We've not got a PSP to test this, and the file is only 44MB, so perhaps this is a data refresher.

Elsewhere there's the Escalation Pack DLC for Tom Clancy's EndWar at GBP 7.99, and the No Doubt Singles album for Rock Band, which charges GBP 0.99 a track, or GBP 9.99 for the 13-strong collection.

There's also those Nirvana and Euro-band Guitar Hero World Tour songs (GBP 1.59 each, or GBP 4.39 a trio), plus trailers for Crash Commando and Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer.

Just managed to get on. Wish I hadn't bothered. The Streetfighter Sackboys are cute, but horrendously overpriced. Like most LBP costumes, actually. And other DLC for that matter.

Oh, and notable lack of Home. Oh well.

i think it is. I know its only 45mb....but it is a stat based game anyway. And it comes with the software manual which you can access under the XMB by clicking triangle where fm handheld is

'Home' is now live for those that care. It's found on the PS3 front-end above the link to the PlayStation Store.

Enjoy :)

Ex-squeeze me? Are you suggesting that Wii a update has broken the system?

The main complaint is they do too little, not too much. Certainly there's never been one which has done as much as you suggest.

"We" as in Eurogamer, or "we" as in Rob do not have a PSP?

If it's the former, I have no clue how EG reviews PSP games... ;-)

I'm seeing a pattern these days. Not much unless you like Rockband, GH or wasting money on LBP :(

EA really need shooting. £29.99? FOR A DOWNLOAD VERSION OF A PSP GAME???!!! Why decide to charge double the normal price??

Oh and Sony, the LBP fleecing week on week is getting a little silly now, at least try to sell us something that would actually add to the game....

To those people whining about PSN prices, do as I do and speak with your wallets, or rather dont as is the case with this weeks daylight robbery! Still, Astro Tripper is awesome!

Aaaah more LBP costumes. My girlfriend will be happy!

On a side note, why don't EG do one of these for XboxLive? I know they do a Wii one, just seems a bit strange. I'd like to know what my Xbox cousins are getting (Don't worry friends, soon I will be like you once Jasper get's inside Elites....)

@bad09

But don't you see, its good that they're charging for things that DON'T add to the game.
You don't need them at all, so don't bother buying them, I know I won't be spending any money on new LBP costumes even though Zangeif looks amazingly cool.
If they can earn some money off the loose walleted among us that could benefit me in the long run then feel free! The fact that they're providing new costumes for free along side this venture is good enough for me.
