    lol.

I'd love if the series went back to straight rally racing (as in you against the track - no other cars). That disappointed me in Dirt. I remember spending weeks and weeks on Colin McRae 2 on the PS1. Great game.

This looks so great, but why is the pc version 19 quid and the xbox version 31?
  • Milk #5 3 years ago

I'm afraid that this is going to get 'X-games'ed up to the max. But you can't really blame coadies for that I guess.

Hopefully it will still be a good game, I'm looking forward to it . . .

Wow. Are these the shots of the Wii version I've been hearing so much about?
  • andijames #7 3 years ago

    @Farticus

Couldn't agree more with that to be fair. I can't remember the last time there was a racing game such as Colin Mcrae 2 that was pretty much true to rallying as can be. Maybe it was more for the purists but i think there's a big enough market out there to warrant a game being produced for it.

@farticus: Fan of the British Empire much? :p

British culture has been saturated with American-ism for a long while now.
Surprised to see no "shameful" comments about the release date though.

    @farcticus

Yeah, we should be blown off the map because we don't have ANY other racing series except the X-Games. Please, get a clue, okay?

(American Le Mans Series, IndyCar Series, Monterey Historic, Speed World Challenge, and more)

I'm really OH-SO-TIRED of some reading the same ridiculous comments on stereotypical BS about how the USA is made up of mostly white, gun-weilding, red-necks -- when in fact, we are a very diverse people.

I'm surprised it's not a bigger difference. Microsoft and Sony take about £14 royalty per copy sold on 360/PS3 respectively. There's no platform-owner royalty for PC games.

Colin McRae games were fine, the first ones were amazing at the time but the latest editions of Colin McRae Rally games weren't - in my opinion - that great.
I have two favourite rally games excluding DiRT. One was on the original XBox, Rallisport Challenge Series. And then there was one in the olden days. Too bad I can't remember the name. There were probably more rally games that I can't remember until I actually see gameplay footage X)

[Edit] One was probably Mobil 1 Rally Championship.

just change it back to a real rally game FFS.
  • Kyledanutmeg #13 3 years ago

    Cool and looks great
  • coojam #14 3 years ago

Why are people shocked at Codies for appealing to a wider market when "pure" rally games only ever catered to a minority audience? I think it's great that there's a variety of off-road racing types in Dirt as you can pick and choose which bits suit your taste.

All this "Codemasters are selling out to the Yanks" is bollocks. Colin himself got into the X Games to help rallying gain a foothold over in the Statesand to get more people interested in the sport worldwide. If that's the way the game goes too, then there's no better way to honour his memory, surely?

Cannot wait for this game! first one was superb and still one of the best driving games around, this and Forza 3 is a racing fans dream!
  • fknetwork #16 3 years ago

Some of those are NOT "target screens" as IGN have done an interview with codemasters where they show some of the same ones and a video showing in game graphics with ign driving, look spot on to these images so far specially the replays, very impressed!

i've yet to see a tarmac trailer and it's starting to anoy me,come on codies enough of the gravel show us some tarmac footage
  • ScottyXTUK #19 3 years ago

I'm not sure if I'm going to like this or not now. The total "Americanisation" of it could well be its downfall.

    Oh well time will tell.

I'm looking forward to this, but I really hope the framerate won't be as shaky as it's been in pretty much all the gameplay videos I've seen so far. At first I thought it was just shoddy video encoding, but it really looks more like pretty severe framerate dips in certain areas.
  • uglygamer #21 3 years ago

The graphics are pretty ordinary compared to Forza 3
  • BigDaddy82 #22 3 years ago

"The graphics are pretty ordinary compared to Forza 3 "

Is that a joke? The cars in Forza might look nice but the environments are bland as, Dirt 2 looks ace all round
  • GreatUncleBaal #23 3 years ago

Codies' fascination with bloom continues, I see.
  • db3 #24 3 years ago

Hopefully the X factor will only be an element and not overwhelm....at least it's not Colin McRae Pro Street.
I'd take a Kenny from the Block special rally stage over a Drifting stage any day.

Some pretty cringe-worthy stuff from farticusmaximus here.

Anyway, game looks decent but I've still yet to finish Pure :/

Is it me, or is there something slightly ironic in the release date for a game that's specifically aimed at an American audience? Or are they getting it on a different day? Anyone else think making a celebration out of 11 September would sort of counter-balance a rather popular and slightly anti-English celebration that goes on every year over there? (or maybe some more movies should be made to make a few more people rich out of the incident!)
