Last Beatles: RB instruments revealed

Lennon's guitar costs 90 quid.

EA, MTV and Harmonix have replicated the guitars used by John Lennon and George Harrison for The Beatles: Rock Band.

Lennon's Rickenbacker 325 and Harrison's Gretsch Duo Jet will cost 90 quid apiece and join the Höfner bass (as used by Sir Paul) and Ludwig pearl-finished drums to complete the full wireless set. Imagine all the people playing those.

The Beatles: Rock Band launches for PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 on 9th September. A Limited Edition Premium Bundles containing game, bass, drums, microphone and "special content" will cost GBP 179.99 / EUR 199.99.

A special pre-order club can be accessed on The Beatles: Rock Band website by using a retailer code offered when reserving a copy. This appears to be limited to US shops at the moment.

There's no tracklist for The Beatles: Rock Band yet, but reports claim there will be previously unheard of material to which to bop along.

"I've Got A Feeling" that a lot of people will be saying "Hello, Goodbye" at that price. "Money can't buy you love", but lots of it can buy tacky plastic replica guitars.
  • Monkey_Puncher #5 3 years ago

Perfect timing to release £90 plastic guitars when there's a recession on...
  • Brodie #6 3 years ago

"I came in through the bathroom window" then realised that was entirely irrelevant.

90 quid? That's almost REAL Rickenbacker money! *possibly*

I don't understand all the negativity around this. I'm so buying it on release (unless the "Taxman" takes all my money)
  • Eraysor #8 3 years ago

    lololololol

Seriously EA, you do a shit job with Rock Band already.
  • Physically_Insane #9 3 years ago

i think most people want to know if song export is going to be an option with this game, as i dont think i could be assed changing discs just to play certain songs and would much rather integrate beatles songs into a setlist with other bands as well.
  • JahB #12 3 years ago

pictures over at kotaku. still not worth the money. not by a long shot, 90 quid buys you starter guitars in real life.
  • JohnnyWashnGo #13 3 years ago

    Wow - just wow.

Thats stupid money for guitar controllers. I guess it goes to show that a fool and their money are easily parted huh?
  • Fwing #14 3 years ago

I read the price today, oh boy. . .
  • RobotRocker #15 3 years ago

    @Brodie

£90 quid is nowhere near the price of one. Were talking around £3000 on Ebay for a proper one. £90 for a plastic one to play a videogame with is pushing it though.

At the very least, these look very well made and sturdy. The Duo Jet looks absolutely gorgeous. Hopefully EA will see sense and do Game/Guitar Bundles also along with the Band pack(since I need an excuse to replace my Les Paul which has gotten fustrating as hell recently. Better build quality my ass Eurogamer)

Also, eagerly anticipating massive amounts of nerd rage in this section over plastic videogame guitars and games. Don't let me down EG.

The rockband Fender was shit so my guess is these are as well, I'll stick to my GH3 les paul thanks, thats unless EA\Harmonix decide to stop other controllers working which wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

I'm a much bigger beatles fan than most people my age (well, or any age, I guess) but getting the game with the instruments seems extravagant even for me. If I was buying it for the first time, sure, but since I have the instruments already, I'm happy enough with what I've got. Still incredibly excited for this game.

    @RobotRocker.

£3000 for Ricky? Must be a damn nice one. My Jetglo 330 was £950, although that was 14 years ago.

And I was being glib, facetious, and a wee bit silly, didn't actually mean a Rickenbacker was under £100. As has been pointed out though, you CAN get a REAL guitar for that money, and other guitars are available for this game at much cheaper, so why the high price?

    Fools. Money. Separated at speed.

I've got a feeling this game is not coming way way...Oh yeah

...I could go on for days.

I was hoping they'd release the Rock Band 2 instruments at long last over here with this game, but still no mention of those?
I've finished the RB1 drums mode on Expert and have held off buying the second game for this long, as i really want to play it through on the newer, nicer drums, but i'm not buying a whole new Beatles setup.
Will they ever release the RB2 drums here?
  • emhaslam92 #22 3 years ago

why arent the guitars included in the bundle? no way i'm paying £90 each!
  • GrandpaUlrira #23 3 years ago

Holy crap. Do people really love these games that much?
  • EmiliasHorse #24 3 years ago

I am bored of the whole pretend to be a rock star genre.
  • Freek #25 3 years ago

They aren't just screwing UK gamers, they are just as expensive in the US and mainland Europe.
Still a silly price but I imagine someone at EA thought it was a good idea to make the luxery models the standard. Probably have to pay allot of licensing and this is how they plan to make some money back.
  • RobotRocker #26 3 years ago

    @Brodie

Same reason people buy Metal Dance Mats and £150 arcade sticks. They absolutely must have the best experience possible with these games and they will pay premium for better looking and better performing peripherals.

Fools and money is debatable if they are looking for absolute top performance. I wouldn't pay top whack for one myself unless it included the game but I can see why people will pay premium.

This. I love RB and love drumming in RB, but ultimately it's made much harder by the fact that the RB1 kit is shit. I'd pay good money for a much better kit. The lack of natural rebound on the pads and anything resembling a realistic response from the kick pedal makes the game unrealistically hard. Plenty of people say the same about playing SF on a controller and buy £100+ sticks. Why is this different?
  • Doctor_What #28 3 years ago

Having just spent a fair bit of money on getting a decent pedal from http://www.rockpedal.com imported into the UK (my god it cost a lot of money, and my god is it bloody amazingly good), I can say that sometimes the better and more expensive kit is worth it... But this isn't really better kit is it? It's just a different shaped lump of plastic for £90. Screw that.

And where're the RB2 drums EA?
  • t8yman #29 3 years ago

you must be mental to pay $80+ for a feckin pedal.

honestly people need to put these things into perspective. Its getting silly.
