Lara Wii in December News

Wii News by Robert Purchese

23 November, 2007

Eidos has confirmed to Eurogamer that Tomb Raider: Anniversary will be out for Wii on 7th December.

It had previously assured us it would be out before the end of the year, but this is the first time it has settled on a date.

By now you know that Anniversary is a remake of the original Tomb Raider that rocketed Lara Croft to global fame. It was put together on the Legend engine by Crystal Dynamics to celebrate ten years of the fiery vixen, although delays actually pushed it into its 11th year.

Fresh bits and bobs for this version are some Wiimote waving, but otherwise - hopefully - it will be very similar to its PS2 and 360 counterparts we gave 9/10. A cert, in other words.

Pop over to our recent Tomb Raider: Anniversary Xbox 360 review to find out more.

Hmmmm smells of a poor rushed transistion to controller al la zelda with it swiping sword thing, but aiming could work well if implemented properly.

The sword swinging action - ie translating a one putton push into a simple movement off the wiimote, not making things gradual and analogue, just digital presses.

Always feels a little underwhelming.

I read the end as "fresh bits and boobs".

That'll be the Tomb Raider legacy in action, right there.

Arguably true, but equally arguably having any more complex controls (whether gesture based or 1:1 mapping) would be pointless. Me, I always loved being able to gave a little *shick* to draw the sword.

i'm actually really looking forward to this as i've never played any TR games, despite knowing all too well that they're the type of game i'd really enjoy.

my only concern about this are the controls - wii controls have the tendency to either make or break a game, there's rarely ever any middle ground - so i'm just a little hesitant at the moment.

does anyone know how the controls work? does Anniversary on other consoles require a lot of manual camera control? because i find wii games often seem to struggle with this, mainly when the A button and the D-pad need to be used in quick succession. (i'd say even the mighty Galaxy suffers on this point a little...)

anyway, roll on those reviews!

/MattDamon's train of thought...

Woohoo! It's Saturday morning and mummy's out shopping!...Yes!! I can play on teh intawabz innit!!!...Hmm, what first though?

1 - Go to EG & post something as totally useless and moronic as possible!

2 - Check a few shemale sites and bang one out over the cat.

3 - Realise mummy has returned and begin to snivel like a little weasel because she forgot to buy my favourite flavour of Sunny-D :'(
