Lana Lang in Street Fighter film? News

PC PlayStation 2 Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Tom Bramwell

2 January, 2008

Who would you like to play Chun-Li in an upcoming new Street Fighter film? Kristin Kreuk, eh? Well, good news, because an Internet website declares that Smallville's Lana Lang, aka Kristin Kreuk, will play Chun-Li in an upcoming new Street Fighter film!

We didn't even realise there was an upcoming new Street Fighter film, which shows how much we pay attention, but ComingSoon.net says Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is being directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak and is based on a Justin Marks script that focuses on "Chun-Li and her journey for justice", with filming to begin in Thailand in March.

IMDB hasn't much to say on the subject, apart from what ComingSoon.net says, amazingly, but the good news is that Bartkowiak's previous work includes the 2005 film version of Doom, so we can at least expect Karl Urban to say "oh my god" at least twice, and for there to be lots of name-checking e.g. "Jeff Balrog" and "Detective Dhalsim".

We rang Capcom up to find out whether any of the above is true but the European arm of the publisher had nothing to say about Detective Dhalsim, or even Kristin Kreuk's supposed involvement.

As long as they bring back Van Damme as Guile, a strong performance that should have got an Oscar!

Best. Movie. Ever. Or will be. Just because or Krueks acting let alone her looks.

Whaaaaat, a Street Fighter film centered on Chun-li? I would have preferred Ryu, Ken or Akuma, they are far more interesting characters.

Great stuff, she is just about as Chinese as you can get!

Seriously though, if this beats the representations of Street Fighter characters in City Hunter then I'll be impressed.

"I AM CHINESE!"

Well it makes a change from the usual "I AM JAPANESE!" at least.

The mere suggestion of another Street Fighter movie is enough to send a bolt of sheer terror through me, not again, please not again. God save us all...

I remember first reading about this new SF movie a long time ago. As I was reading, I kept praying "please don't screw it up, please don't give Dhalsim hair, please show us some special moves, please don't bring back Van Damme, please make Ryu and Ken the main characters" then BAM! I read: The story concerns an interpol agent, Chun Li, and her quest to avenge her father. I stopped reading and cried.
Kristin is hot, but the movie is....not. Thundercats....HOOOOOO!!

This will never be anywhere near as good as the absolute genius that is "Street Fighter - The Later Years" currently running on a good flash video site near you!! (i.e. Youtube)

It's currently up to episode 7 I think and is pure comedy gold.
