LA Noire delayed

Sulks off to fiscal 2008.

Take-Two may be jolly pleased with BioShock, but it's keeping quiet about LA Noire, and has pushed the PS3 game's release date back to fiscal 2009 (in English, next Christmas at the earliest).

Rockstar announced it had signed the action game - which sees players trying to solve a series of gruesome murders in Los Angeles - nearly a year ago, and the game had been listed as fiscal 2008 until recently.

Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick played down the delay in a conference call, reported by Shacknews. "Right now we're just pushing out the release date, and we'll be more specific as we have more information," he said, referring also to the absence of Rockstar Leeds' Beaterator PSP game from the schedule.

"We are continuing to develop the titles, and I think our decision was driven in part by the fact that we have such a strong release schedule for '08 and a pretty robust one."

That schedule, for the record, includes Bully on Xbox 360 and Wii, Midnight Club: Los Angeles for 360/PS3, Top Spin for Wii, Borderlands for 360/PS3/PC, and of course Grand Theft Auto IV for 360 and PS3.
