Konami announces PSN/XBLA duo News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Tom Bramwell

14 April, 2009

Konami has announced a pair of upcoming downloadable games for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade, reviving the Vandal Hearts series and jumping on the zombie bandwagon in the process.

The latter is thanks to Zombie Apocalypse, an up-to-four-player top-down survive-'em-up where you and friends battle through 55 days of battles across seven environments using assault rifles, flamethrowers, chainsaws and that sort of thing.

There's single-console and online gameplay, seven unlockable game modes and no word on price. But you can stare at some screenshots.

Then there's Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment (thanks GameSpot), which is due out for XBLA in August and PSN in September.

Details on that one are even more scant, but apparently it puts you in control of Tobias Martin, with similar strategy RPG gameplay to the PSone original. We can barely remember either.

Zombie Apocalypse looks a bit like Hunter: The Reckoning from those screenshots. Good thing that I loved Hunter.

Vandal Hearts is by far my favourite game of all time! Sooo good, this is the best news I have ever heard! I hope it is like the first one though and not the shitty sequal!

Zombie Apocalypse does look a bit Hunter, but it sounds like it could be really fun. Quite looking forward to that now actually. I need more 4 player zombie action :)

Can't remember Vandal Hearts? Consider yourself rubbish. Vandal Hearts was awesome. By far the best of the early 3D strategy RPGs, with a fantastic storyline, and it kicks the crap out of Final Fantasy tactics.

Vandal Hearts was my first PSOne game, great game and one of the few I've played through more than once too. Couldn't get into the sequel at all sadly.

Bramwell, you should be ashamed - the original was a truly great game. /slaps wrists
