Kojima to sign MGS4 sleeves in London

With Yoji Shinkawa on 2nd June.

While out on news patrol earlier we completely missed an enormously conspicuous press release lying unconvincingly across some flattened grass trying to fit a giant spinning ration box into its overflowing utility belt: it said that Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa will be at HMV's Oxford Street, London store on 2nd June.

They will of course be there to celebrate the release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots later in June - 12th June, to be precise - and in the absence of boxed copies of the game will be signing HMV-exclusive game sleeves.

The duo will be there at 12 noon, but the organisers note that "access to meet Mr. Kojima and Mr. Shinkawa will be strictly limited", so "300 sleeves will be available from the store on the day of the event from 9.00am", and only people with sleeves will be allowed to queue. You can have a sleeve if you pre-order the game at HMV, which involves a GBP 5 deposit.

Still, we imagine 300 or so of the series' loyal fans will be ready to spend that much and do that much standing around waiting. If we were feeling uncharitable, we might point out that they spend far more time sitting around doing nothing while playing the Metal Gear Solid games. But we're not uncharitable, as you know.

As mentioned, Metal Gear Solid 4 is due out on 12th June, and is exclusive to PS3. We've already played it and finished it, and you can read our post-completion hands-on preview elsewhere on the site. Sadly though, we're tightly bound by an NDA so you will have to wait until closer to release to read our verdict. Look out for it.

    @JSPOOLE

+1 and an amen to that!
  • gooners2006 #12 4 years ago

@JSPOOLE millions of gamers would completely disagree with what your big mouth just said there, have you ever thought that you are that lower life form because it seems that u wont play this game because it hurts your brain just to try and figure out what is going on
  • JediMasterMalik #13 4 years ago

Wow, I hope you really hurt yourself getting off that massive high horse of yours.

"And of course it's not me- I know how superior I am, especially to metal gear fans"

"I wish I could empathise with someone that simple minded but they might as well be a lower life form because my taste is so much better."

"Just like the millions of morons who watched friends over arrested development or lost over angel are retarded fuckwits who wouldn't know quality if it pounded the shit out of them"

"Did I not state clearly enough those millions of gamers are retards?"

...Nope, but you just showed us idiots what a Class A CUNT you are. Nicely done

whens it out for the xbox?
  • gooners2006 #16 4 years ago

@anomagnus - at the moment MGS4 is PS3 exclusive.....give it a while and it will turn up on 360
  • Razorus #17 4 years ago

I don't think it will appear on the 360. especially since the game apparently makes full use of a Blue-Ray disc.
  • anomagnus #18 4 years ago

that was a bit of a joke on my part, but its a serious question, just how long do you think knoami will wait before launching it on xbox?

as for the blu ray bit, i have no doubt ms will have a blu ray drive add on before christmas this year
  • Widge #19 4 years ago

Oh yeah, but will people actually code games for it? This is based on the previous success (or lack of) the likes of Sega had with any bolt on devices.

If the BR is being used with uncompressed audio and video, then perhaps a bit of compression on the sources and bob is yer uncle.
  • captainrentboy #20 4 years ago

Dammit, I see all the ''90 minutes to do so and so'' jokes have been used up already.
    I was too darned slow.
  • captainrentboy #21 4 years ago

JSPOOLE, for someone who despises MGS titles, and claims that folk who like the games are ''idiotic'', it's quite strange to see that 5 days later you're still hanging around in this comments section, throwing in the odd remark :/...

For people who LOVE MGS and want to own everything, this could be very expensive. I haven't found any confirmation on which retailers offer the Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2 DVD. If HMV don't do them, the way this seems to be going is:

    - Play.com for the limited edition
    - HMV for the Sleeve and Kojima/Shinkawa sigs (plus a day off work)
    - GAME etc for the MGS vol. 2 DVD.
