Kojima already has ideas for MGS5

But doesn't want to get involved.

Hideo Kojima has said he already has three ideas for Metal Gear Solid 5. Only, he doesn't want the team to pick any of those because he doesn't want to get involved. He's stepping back, remember.

"I have three concepts for MGS5 already. What would be ideal for me with MGS5, though, is that we don't do those," Kojima told 1UP. "If the team picks one of those concepts, I have to get involved again, which I don't want to do.

"There are already so many good ideas from the staff, so if we select one of those, that would be really good. At that point I could really rely on them and take the step back to be the producer, which is the ideal situation, I think."

The renowned developer is far from finished with the industry, and will use the freed time to pursue an experimental idea born long ago.

"Well, I want to create something new, and it's difficult to explain since no one's seen it before. I don't know if it would sell very well," he said.

"I've been warming this up for a long time, and I keep thinking that I'll try this idea. But ideas always change, so I really don't know what the final outcome will be."

God (Kojima) is dying to be involved with the game in the same capacity as he has done with the other games in the series. It is interesting to see what way the series will go with out Solid Snake. Regardless of what character takes the lead role I'm definitely going to buy Metal Gear Solid 5. It is my favourite game series.

As much as I love the MGS series, give us some new stuff, Hideo. Heck, reworking some old stuff (Snatcher, ZOE) would be fine with me.

It's time to move on, friend. You've been making one last MGS game for about five years now.
  • GunzManiac #5 3 years ago

O please no, i loved how MGS4 ended, it was i think the ulitimate finish to a brilliant series.
  • bad09 #6 3 years ago

Can we have young snake again in the new one.

As much as I like MGS4 the aging storyline was a bit poo...

I have three ideas how to bring about world peace, but I don't want to get involved.
  • PearOfAnguish #10 3 years ago

I'm going to take a wild guess that his idea involves five hours of unbearably dull FMV with terrible dialogue, then about ten minutes of actual game where you hide in a box and lob porn mags at goofy bad guys.

Will defo buy, Raiden would be a good choice, how did he get a cybernetic body?

I really hope Hideo goes back to make ZOE 3 though, ZOE 2 was too good to go sequel-less

Metal Gear Solid was - in a way - separate from the original Metal Gear games. Sure the storylines all follow on and shit, but what I mean is that they should distinguish it away from the "solid" games. I'm not making much sense am I.

a quote from earlier will help. chris_ace: "metal gear raiden please, i wanna see what happened to him after metal gear 2, why does he no longer have his body!"

So yes, Metal Gear [Insert here] is what I think they should do. I think Kojima should also just think "fuck it, I'll do another one.", he shouldn't leave his best work in the hands of others. Not saying they can't do as good a job, the fact is that he's getting better at this storytelling lark IMO and I want him to continue.

They should definitely fill the gap between 2 and 4 (3 obviously doesn't count) - Raiden rescuing Sunny from the Patriots and explaining his ninja shit, as chris_ace originally said

MGS deviding opinions is what it does best

"looks like 5 halo games in just over 7 "

    Clutching at straws are we?
  • Pasco #19 3 years ago

I always wondered why MGS games were devoid of any logic but now we know the answer. Kojima's life is just as crazy.

"I don't wanna be involved. I will only propose three possible concepts"

Remake of Metal Gear 1 and 2 ftw. Also, a Snake Tales game set betwix 2-4, where Snake travels the world taking out various MG models.
  • SilentScream #21 3 years ago

He said that it was a "new" idea, and he "didn't know if it would sell", so it obviously won't be a remake of older games...

Since it's a "new" idea, I think it should be cool, as a lot of games seem to be stuck in a cycle of just better and better graphics, whic is good, but it'll be cool to see a completely new game on the market, much like Bioshock.

I'd like to be able to see what goes on in Kojima's head...
  • Salato #22 3 years ago

I'm hoping Kojima tries his new idea and keep with the Metal Gear series and MGS5 turns out to be Metal Gear Sunny: Tactical Egg Cooking Action.

    King Koj is back..again. :p
  • Golgo #24 3 years ago

oh dear god, why doesn't he just give up and admit to himself that he'll be making these pretentious, clunky stealth-em-ups forevermore...?
  • firefly #25 3 years ago

Personally I don't count the non-cannon titles as I tend to ignore them anyway.
That leaves seven games - no more than any other major series.

But I do think they should leave it where it is. The story is done, there's no reason to revisit it and Konami should just move on.

Could he make any less freaking sense?

  • aine #29 3 years ago

@firefly - "there's no reason to revisit it and Konami should just move on."

ah but there is a reason to revisit it. i'll give you a clue, it starts with m and rhymes with bunny.

whenever konami tries something original these days (well, either original, or based on a less popular existing series like suikoden or castlevania), whether kojima is involved or not, it invariably sells fuck-all and ends up in bargain bins within a month. which is a shame, because they still make some fine video games. but that's the way the market is. if they didn't make another metal gear, it'd probably only be pro evo keeping them from going tits up or being bought out.

It wasn't even FMV anyway as it used the in-game engine. So storage space matters little.

    Shitbox? 3shitty?

Your previous post now qualifies you as possibly the worst PS3 fanboy I've ever seen.

Do whatever you like, but keep it Sony exclusive
