Koei dates games, demos News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

13 August, 2007

Koei has pulled out the calendar and stamped official dates on its biggest upcoming games and their demos.

The first treat for us is the European Live demo of Fatal Inertia, which will be available to download tomorrow. It will give you the chance to try out the futuristic racing game ahead of its 14th September release. But unfortunately those of you waiting for it on PS3 will have to keep twiddling your thumbs, as it lingers on in the land of TBC.

However, if it's a good slice of slicing you like, then you'll be pleased to know Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War will be demoing on both Live and PSN in October, before its full release in 2nd November. Apparently it's quite different to what Koei has done before, too - despite obvious similarities. Catch up with its progress in our Bladestorm gallery.

Last of the bunch is a fusion of franchises in Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, where mechanoids meet enormous hackandslash carnage - resulting in mega sales throughout Japan and a good import review score. You'll be able to test it out for yourself on both Live and PSN in late October, before whipping out the wallet and buying the full banana on 9th November.

DW Gundam was fucking terrible. I mean really bad. Imagine DW re-skinned, thats it. Theres nothing connecting the action on screen to Gundam apart from the characters and what they look like, its horrible.

Fatal Inertia is horrible aswell.

Im betting on Bladestorm being cack aswell for a 3 out of 3 triple header of crap.

I was shocked to find that after downloading the Bladestorm demo off the JPN PSN store that it wasn't a trademark Koei hack n' hack.

Meh-tastic.

Saw a dev diary on Bladestorm, looked cack. Made even worse when the dev said "well, you go round taking on quests, earning money and fame... and that's it". Not the best words to use when selling your game.

I LOVE futuristic racers.

Fatal Inertia - looks to be suffereing terribly from being on the UE3. The framerate on all the trailers I have seen so far looks to suck - which must be the biggest no-no ever for the genre.

Fingers crossed, Epic have not shafted them with promises of what UE3 will be able to do, the dev's have then built all the levels, and then had the pile of steaming ***dropped on their desks to run it on.

Hope it manages a smooth 30fps, surely that isn't a big ask.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam?

As of now, it became socially unacceptable to support this publisher.

DW:Gundam isnt that bad. I downloaded it off marketplace using my yank account the other week. Its just DW set in the Gundam universe. It was quite an enjoyable hack n slash, kept me occupied for the length of the demo anyway.

If you like DW already then you'll like DW:Gundam, just a different take on the same game.

Now just got to wait another few hours for the Bioshock demo to download.......

I really enjoyed Bladestorm and I sort of enjoyed Gundam.
But I don't see myself playing through either game.

I've already played the Bladestorm and Gundam demos, and going on 360 owners impressions of the Fatal Inertia demo, all 3 can all be carried away in a great big bucket o' MEH!
