In terms of multiplayer, this looks so much better than any shooter other than COD4.

Graphically, it wipes the floor with Halo to an almsot embarassing extent, lol.

The multiplayer is better than COD4. I'm happy that I was able to take part in 2 beta phases for this.

p.s. - those saying this is a bitch-slap to the xbox need to realise that far more '10/10' and '9/10' games have graced MS's game console that the PS3 (on EG and metacritic at least) In fact, the only PS3 game to have a 10/10 score on EG is Bioshock, which is a port of a MS exclusive...

Wow, looks like the whole SDF crew is gonna buy this game on day 1 and play the hell out of it, which means that KZ2's MP will be full of retards for a while, and that EG's comments threads will be a better read until the god of war3 hype machine kicks in. Very few of MS's exclusive's actually deserve a 10/10 though. I mean, Fable II was good, but it's no 10/10 game, that's for sure.

Not wanting to fuel the flames but there are more exclusive (not available on PC or any other platform) games on the PS3 with a metacritic rating of 80 or higher.

Resistance 2 is an improvement over the first game. The single player is shorter (longer than COD4's though) but the action is almost continuous whilst in R1, it was slow and there were many sections with few enemies to fight. R2 also has one of the best multiplayers available too. 60 players online lag free on a console is currently unmatchable and unbeatable (until MAG comes out).

yes halo 3 got a higher score and i cant see why graphically not as good as kz2 or a.i wise not as good imo storyline ...

There are two simple answers to that.

1) I might not have given Halo 3 a 10/10 score had I reviewed it. I think Killzone 2's single player campaign is vastly superior and, while generic, it's story is better told than Bungie's rather garbled narrative.

2) Halo 3 wasn't just scored on its single player campaign. If Killzone 2 had 4-player co-op and the multiplayer flexibility of the Forge, and the ability to record your games, then it probably could've earned full marks.

I'm glad this got a 9 (and 10 on other sites) I really am. If only because it shows some of you up for the children you really are.

There was a reason games like MGS4 got the so called xbots in there arguing, because there are well document reasons as to why that may be a marmite game. You don't see such comments here and you didn't see them in the 10/10 Wipeout HD review either. Good games are good games. I love em.

9/10 is the highest I'd rate any game, of course there all going to have there faults.

I'm an Xbox owner and Killzone 2 does look very good, would it make me go out and buy a pS3.....No!! Everyone should be happy with the console they have, both have a great selection of games and will continue to get better.

Good for PS3 users. It looks like their lust for FPS titles will be finally quenched and Sony would move on to something else. I don't have PS3 and I don't plan to, and KZ 2 is not a game which would make me buy PS3, but it's good for PS3 users.

Good to see the Sony guys getting a game to play, they're very patient and they've earned it.

I thought R2 was a horrible game and i loved the first one even with all its generic-ness. The second one couldn't even compel me to be bothered to finish it.

Hope this is actually good and not just hyped to the hilt.

R2 was simply a big pile of disappointment for me personally, and thought it should have got 7/10 or 8/10 at most. Still there are enough people out there who loved it (I shouldn't begrudge them their happiness from the game but... really?!).

People are also able to recognise good games irrespective of whether its appear on rival consoles, even if they badmouth it in public in hope of changing the tide of the battle!

PS3 and X360 are going to be here to stay.

So just enjoy the good games when its come to you, man!

@spudsbuckley I was going to say the same thing. Resistance wasnt very good and only a 6 in my book :(. Still trying to play it and like it but its just not happening. So I'm hoping KZ2 is better.

I'm still struggling to understand your comment on how you can praise something yet call it generic?

I do take whatever you say about Halo with a pinch of salt as your bias is legendary.

Glad to hear it. I took R2 back a few weeks ago, just because I got the feeling that multiplayer would be better in this. COD4 was great fun, but I never actually got good at it. I can myself getting stuck into this. Its got so much depth - and looks bloody amazing.

Can GG please make this engine available as the PS3's answer to the Unreal engine. It would be a shame to waste all that R&D on one title and it is obvious that the PS3 is not really that Unreal friendly. Decent review for a decent game and there is no such thing as fanboyism, there is only jealousy and a seeming lack of cash among gamers to rectify the situation. The console is simply a means to play the game and if this was on 'your' console (everyone else) you would buy it!
